    I doubt there's more than 4-5 systems tops, out there that a guy like DeVoss isn't a borderline top 30 type in. I think where what you're asking for to happen, is for us to have 15-20ish B- and better types. Which I definitely see on the horizon, since most of our better talent is in the low levels right now.

    Lee was criticized for being too quiet and not enough a leader, and then got raked over the coals when he dared suggest that he's encountered racist fans. Geez. I don't even remember any of that. Awful. So basically he caught tons more than even a [expletive] Theriot. Unreal.

    Soriano has caught quite a bit of [expletive] for not running plays out and a lot for his contract, which isn't his fault for taking what was offered obviously. Much moreso earlier in his deal than now, where I figure the reporters are truly shocked he's actually been productive at this point in the deal.

    Part of me figures this is just a way to maybe get Vitters an extra PA. Even with Castro struggling, I guess I can see the merit of Vitters needing the extra AB over him, based on they know much more about Castro than him at this point.

    Everyone think we're done now? Or solid chance at seeing Marmol or Soriano still moved? No clue who Sori is willing to approve a trade to, but teams like Tampa and Pittsburgh could sure use him for the stretch run. Marmol's pitched very well over the last month or so too, so if we're eating plenty of money, I could still see us getting back a pretty intriguing package for either personally.

    4 6 3 2 1 4 line for McNeil tonight. Cool to see the extra work, maybe we'll get a few 4-5 inning starts out of Johnson and Blackburn by the end of the season. Doubt Underwood and Maples have enough time to get there.

    FWIW, on a Sickels grading scale, I'd give B+'s out to Baez, Soler, and Almora, B's to Vizcaino and Vogelbach, B-'s to Torreyes, Candelario, Villanueva, Amaya, Johnson, and Szczur and C+'s to everyone else down to Peralta at 20.

    You don't think the system is deep? I wish we had more current top end guys, but I like the depth a lot and have plenty of hope as some of the youngsters get into A ball and higher, more top end types emerge.

    For me, the averagish power and being blocked by Baez or Castro( my guess is Baez winds up at 3B still) along with a solid glove, will at least tempt the Cubs to give Villanueva a shot at 2B unless he's dealt before it becomes an actual issue.

    My list has quite a bit of gut feel in it, to a certain degree. Gun to my head, I honestly see everyone I listed as a better major leaguer than Szczur. Granted, these guys are all at lower levels, so by the time they reach AA, some will probably lose some luster for various reasons. That said, I see Szczur as a second division regular, maybe DeJesus with speed and not quite the discipline. My list is NOT an indictment of him, as much as how highly I value the guys above him. I would put Villanueva lower, but I've got it in my head he's winding up as a 2B, with Torreyes and Amaya. Which is my own issue with my list, having 3 guys I all see as 2B inside the top 10. But their bats do enough for me to allow for it, in the end.

    I do on occasion. Usually during peak hours, but only for 15 minutes at a time or so and not very often.

    Damn, not sure where I got to thinking that on Batista. I guess I'd move a few guts up and put Jensen in at 30 then.

    They just said he's goibg to play everyday against Houston. If they make him work for PT a bit, I'm OK with it. They obviously have something they're doing with him. This isn't Quade and Hendry. Our FO knows it's a lost season and will make sure they get a solid look at him.
