  1. Sveum said they're being really cautious, but the other MRI came back extra clean, so there probably won't be another one.
  2. Garza was sent home after more stiffness in his arm. DL sting coming. At this point, just get back out there and look decent in September. [expletive].
  3. Zobrist doesn't seem like the type to get dealt in August. Wouldn't pass thru and Tampa probably would want multiple teams involved, to get tge most for him. This one's weird.
  4. Very possible. The fact we've evidently been shopping for a young 3B, still probably means Vitters isn't truly in the longterm plans. Brett has the right skillset if he cuts down the K's.
  5. I'll be very disappointed if Brett and Vitters don't start at least 50 games apiece from here on out. Dale is obviously big on defense, my guess is he wants to work with Vitters a bit. Not a big deal most likely. This isn't Quade we're talking about.
  6. In Kyle's defense, that doesn't say anything negative about Vitters at all. It could mean Vitters OPS's a .1000, while Brett 0's it all the way out......
  7. Oh, and as far as Soriano goes, I have no problem if he's here next year even. Trading him makes no sense at all, since he's not blocking anyone, we ARE paying him, it's doubtful we're spending big this offseason, he's playing very well, and he's an excellent teammate from all accounts. Why get rid of him? Keep him here unless you actually get a solid return for him. No reason not to.
  8. We have 2 veteran guys in LF and RF, with youngsters everywhere else.
  9. Devin Thomas retired today, at 25.
  10. Yeah, I agree. They will be named by 10/31, by the way.
  11. Wonder why Vitters isn't, if Brett is? It's Joe Blanton, not Felix, that we're facing.
  12. Damn, I was hoping we'd know who we were getting back.
  13. We've got some serious roster flexibility. We were at 39, so adding Brett and losing Baker keeps us there. Plus, we can open 2 more spots if we move Stewart and Vizcaino to the 60 man.
  14. Well, that's interesting. If we get a borderline top 30ish guy, I'll be very happy.
  15. Yeah, Castillo doesn't get enough play. I fully expect him to be ,250/,310/,430ish for us. Which is solid, cheap production at a spot where half the teams around tge league can't get that.
  16. Obviously expectations are tricky when you intentionally get guys like Anderson, Morrison, and Liriano with the expectation of some type of bounce back, but back of the envelope I get about 78 wins assuming an average bench and bullpen(which might be too much to assume). is that an acceptable team for you heading into next year?
  17. Spitballing here, but 60 games is a pretty solid amount of time to take a look at guys. I have no clue whether the FO thinks either of these guys is a longterm fixture or not with us. But Sveum, Rawson, McKay and whoever else we've got helping them for this period is most definitely a plus. It may give us enough time to see whether we feel comfortable going into next season with either penciled in as a starter. If they play well, it also increases their value possibly. In case we want to deal either over the offseason. And before someone mentions that it could HURT their value, my take is Brett and his K's have damaged his enough already this year and Vitters strong season hasn't been enough yet, to truly help his.
  18. Well [expletive]. These last 60ish games just got a hell of a lot more interesting.
  19. I don't think so? But the fact each of us are using question marks speaks volumes, I guess.
  20. OK, who is Seth Bernstein? Bedo works for WGN Radio, so I think I'm believibg this.
  21. So evidently Bedo has solid sources at least. Could be legit.
  22. I'm not sure either is actually ready. I don't think it can hurt Brett, he's going to have to learn to sink or swim and having Sveum around should conceivably help him. While it's exciting to see Vitters, he's the one I wish would have stayed in AAA until their season was over. Mainly because he's struggled in the past with midseason promotions. Still, not sure how much it hurts him either. So, if true, [expletive] it, I'm excited.
  23. I think we're at 39 right now. But I suspect this guys next post to be that he mistakingly saw Kershaw and Kemp and thought they were Brett and Vitters.
