  1. Ben Wells, err Ryan McNeil went 4 0 0 0 3 2 with a 5/3 go/fo tonight.
  2. I'm still glad he's hitting 2nd because he needs as many AB's as possible. But, shouldn't one of your better hitters bat 2nd? I.e. Castro They need to get more of a look at Vitters than Castro. They know Castro's a big part of things to come.

  4. No idea on his swing, but remember Brett has some pretty insane hot and cold streaks in the minors. Looks like it's carrying over to the majors. They did a side-by-side earlier in the game of his set-up and leg-kick compared to his debut game and today. Completely different. I can't be the only one that saw it. I missed it. Awesome.
  5. Weakness. The fact you felt the need to us is a solid indication a waffle is coming with the quickness.

  7. Looks like Wells is starting tomorrow for Peoria.
  8. Peralta went 6 3 2 2 2 8 tonight, 62 strikes in 91 pitches.
  9. I certainly understand the rationale, just as you though, I hope you're wrong.
  10. 600 PAs 240 Ks 60 BB 15 HR 285 BIP At a .333 BABIP, that comes to something like 203/283/342 OK, so you think he'll K at a rate of 40%, if it dropped to 33%, is that good enough to be a starter for you? I don't see the rest of your numbers being unrealistic at all.
  11. Kyle, give me a sample line you think he'd put up with 600 plate appearances, including HR and SB. K's too, I'm just curious how bad you think he'll be.
  12. I don't think Castillo's healthy enough to be playing everyday yet or I think he would be. I'm calling Vitters first multi-hit game is tonight.

No, I just meant he's had a 30 year career in the game to help build contacts, network, and move towards the higher positions you can obtain.
  14. CF DeJesus 3B Vitters 1B Rizzo LF Soriano SS Castro C Clevenger CF Jackson 2B Barney P Germano
  15. Law mentioned he expected Paniagua to start at Peoria or Daytona next year. Not shocking. But man, that velo was awesome to hear about and even caught me a bit by surprise. It won't surprise me at all to see him in plenty of top20's by the main publications, even with the lack of track record.
  16. I doubt that Recker or Lalli have any chance of catching on and sticking on a 40 man for any length of time, so I guess the only thing I can take from this is maybe they feel more comfortable with Recker's bat as a backup than Clevenger? Because I definitely see Castillo as our guy moving into next year.
  17. I am convinced Brett has done something dastardly to Kyle. :D But seriously, his K rate has gone up at every level so of course it's a huge red flag. It's where his makeup has to come in and see if he can improve his swing plane or whatever else it is that's needed in order for him to become a major league starter. Because if not for that, he already is one by every other skill. I've always been a defender of his and I probably will be the last to leave the train, but I do think he's got it in him to become a solid everyday contributor for us. I'm counting on Sveum to work some magic somehow(and yes, I admit that if I were a betting man, I'd stay away from this one, based on Brett's past). I don't expect him to all of a sudden wind up this season with numbers that allow us to go into next year thinking he's our longterm CF, but I am very hopeful that he ends this season with us thinking it's a very legit possibility. I'll continue to throw some magic beans in hope of it anyway, because as an organization, we do truly need him.
  18. I think Brett is going to be given much more attention than Vitters by the FO. He's got way too many positives to not figure out the one gigantic negative. And the way sneakypower just worded that, makes me feel that much better about us getting him to succeed longterm.

Hendry has been involved in baseball for well over 30 years. Isn't it telling that Theo, in less than half the time, has more than twice the accomplishments?
  20. Sickels said with a chance of being a 2.

Look, there's no one here who could walk in and competently take over as a GM right now. But, if given a lifetime career in baseball, it changes things dramatically too. The intelligence of some people here or anywhere else, for that matter, is certainly high enough to do the job. Jim Hendry is not some MIT graduate with 12 degrees. This is baseball, not rocket science and Hendry simplified things moreso than most do currently. Which is a good bet as to why he's no longer a GM.
