  1. Gotta create some cap room now. Doesn't sound like the Melton camp is in the same ballpark as Emery currently on a longterm deal. Asking Peppers to restructure is iffy, Tillman getting extended seems like a good bet. Maybe Hester, Kellen Davis, Matt Spaeth get cut?
  2. Scott Frazier-Dillon Overton matchup today as well, but both have been rocked. Overton has pitched himself into the 1st round, hard throwing lefty, that I'd love to see drop.
  3. We've got 4.7 or 4.8 mill to spend and evidently there aren't that many seven figure guys as it is. We can spend 2 on the pitcher, still get one or two low seven figure position players AND still get a nice group of projectable pitchers. If the Taiwanese kid grades out as a guy that'd be a top 50ish guy in the draft, it's completely fine with me.
  4. Austin Kubitza vs Kent Emanuel going on right now. Both guys could be inside the 2-3 round range.
  5. Can't remember first names, but there's a SS named Aybar that looked really good, but he's got age questions as well. The 2nd best pitcher is some dude named Diplan, but he's not all that projectable.
  6. Even still, its 3 in 14 plate appearances. I'll take that.
  7. My issue with what Tampa did, is they barely went over the limit. To me, if you're going to incur the max penalty, you may as well go all out with it.
  8. There's one bigtime pitcher, Maykky Perez, the best hitter seems to be an OFer named Micker Zapata. In Parks scouting report, he only mentioned a couple of guys he'd put a seven figure bonus grade on. It's a main reason why I'd be perfectly fine throwing 2 mill on Ho, assuming he's worth it. It'd still leave us with around 2.8 milk to spend elsewhere. Likely including at lwast one more seven figure guy, maybe even two. Plus, the expected allotment of projectable low six figure pitching prospects.
  9. Well, after the reports from their showcase in January, that's changed somewhat. Some decent bats, not a lot of pitching.
  10. He likes Soler more than Baez, which is certainly understandable. Other than when told Baez typically ranks higher on prospect lists, he responded with " who makes the lists?" He's seen them and thats all he needs. He even docked Baez because he plays SS. A position we already have covered. Yes, he's an idiot.
  11. This seems tailor-made for our situation, if he's worth the money. We've got a huge financial advantage over most in IFA money and a bigtime need for SP. At 2 mill, it'd still leave us in the middle of the pack for IFA money and we could still basically add a class financially as we did in 2012.
  12. Off of twitter, Bengals are franchising Johnson, Bills are franchising Byrd. Andre Smith appears to be hitting the market, Saints want to keep Bushrod, LaCanfora says Melton definitely gets franchised. Some speculation from Pompei of cutting Kellen Davis......wonder how much more expensive Smith would be over Albert?
  13. Soler, Baez, and Lake are each 1-2 so far.
  14. Based on reports, the first DSL guy I'll vote for is De La Rosa. And it likely won't be within my next 5-6 guys anyway.
  15. Jumbo, I did.(not sure if you're asking me or David though) I'm trying to picture Dee Gordon flailing away to miss getting hit.
  16. I think CCO retweeted them. Wittenmeyer did too.
  17. Holy [expletive]. How hard of a ball did Javy hit today? When asked about almost killing a guy, his response: "if you hit a ball like that all the time, you're going to feel great". Then asked if its happened before, he said not since HS-"like they would get out of the way". Sveum said it's the kind of ball Sheffield used to hit. I just asked Wittenmeyer and he said it was a one hop shot to SS, that nearly took his head off, as he twisted out of the way. Looked like a pitcher on a shot to the mound......... Good God, this kid can't get here quick enough.
  18. I'm interested in Vollmer, but he's coming off surgery(knee, I think), so Albert is my top choice. As far as Webb goes, hez.s still on his rookie contract, isn't he? Basically making the league minimum. I don't want to see him cut, because he likely is good enough to start SOMEWHERE for us, even if we add 2 linemen over the offseason and he's cheap, which we need.
  19. I really see Melton being locked in longterm. The franchise tag is a reasonable price, but we need as much room as possible. I think Peanut gets an extension and Hester and Spencer get cut. Should be enough to keep Melton, sign Albert, and keep Urlacher, in my opinion.(still love the Rotoworld prediction though)
  20. That made me LOL.
  21. Castro doubled, Rizzo advanced him to 3rd and Brett hit a very deep sac fly to score him in the 4th.
  22. Brett flew out to left 1st AB. Villanueva hit a HR.
  23. Sneaky, sneaky.......Actually though, I think our FO is higher on Lake than Vitters.
  24. I saw it listed in alphabetical order, not by actual rank, but Daury Torrez made Badler's top 20 list for the DSL/VSL.
  25. Rotoworld seems to think so. They've got us signing Albert at 5/37, Wes Welker at 3/27, and franchising Melton. If that's a possibility, sign me the hell up. I don't want Welker. We'd be better off getting a slot guy who can stretch the field to go with Brandon and Alshon. Who cares about stretching the field when u have two of the most productive Wrs of the last 5 years. Yeah, thats where I'm at. I'm all for it. That said, I'm not positive we need more than a 4th WR. I really like Alshon going forward and Bennett is solid enough as a 3rd guy, in my mind. But adding Welker would give Jay an absolute elite set of WR. I could see the offense(especially if we add Albert and a OG in top 2 rounds) becoming top 5 in the league.
