  1. True, but you sometimes need to let talent work itself out. You're clamoring for Javy to be inside all top 10 lists now, two months ago you were doubting he was a top 75 guy.
  2. I'm disappointed as well, I was hoping he'd be a top 50-100 prospect right now. He's obviously developed some command issues, but the stuff is still there at least. Hell, Rivero looked lije total [expletive] for a few weeks abd then-Interesting as hell. Maybe I have too much confidence in our guys, but I fully expect him to be fixed, maybe even this year.
  3. I said important. I have trouble putting Soler on that list, though I can't say he doesn't belong there. Vizcaino lost a season. Szczur still didn't break out, but I wasn't all that high on him to begin with. Paniagua sucks. Way too early to say that about Paniagua.
  4. Nah, he impressed everyone, especially with his long layoff. The injury sucks, but all it does is keep him from moving up lists. He did enough to stay put at least. From various lists(not everyone makes any single one, is my guess) we'll see Javy, Almora, and Bryant each inside at least one top 20, Javy inside a top 10. Soler will be consensus top 50, with maybe a top 30 from someone. Alcantara will hit a few top 75's, slight shot at a top 50. And we'll see Pierce, CJ, and Vogelbach all make a list or two. Not to mention Olt, who likely will be given a mulligan by many, and will see a wide array of where hez.s ranked. The Twins are the only team I can see ranked ahead of us and thats only if its weighted heaviky towards the top obviously.
  5. Matt Kemp has been hurt this year, hell, he may never be the same again. But when he was awesome, he sandwiched a 0.1 WAR in between a 5.0 and an 8.4.
  6. Anything's possible, but I have a really hard time seeing that. Starting next year, I think you are going to have to really force your way into the Cubs' roster if you aren't an elite prospect. Johnson doesn't seem like he's going to do that when you could just as easily give him another year in the minors. From the "we don't HAVE to add him yet" standpoint, you're right. Hope on my end is that he forces us to obviously. You're getting excited about the way our roster is shaping up though, I like it.
  7. If you mean the uncomfortable comment, I don't think it was anything. More like a combination of tiring and sweating profusely in the heat, late in the game. They pulled him after his 7th K. Good, I get nervous on anything involving pitching. Gotta wonder why he hasn't gotten more national pub, by the way. He's taken the same path Matt Barnes did last year. Barnes was better in A ball, but Pierce has been better in A+.
  8. I'll hope that Goony's post isn't a precursor to anything bad obviously and go ahead and say I can see Pierce starting in AA next year and makes his major league debut sometime late next year......
  9. Alfredo Despaigne, Cuba's other bigtime hitter, had been loaned out to a team in Mexico recently. Said he was offered 50 mill plus by the Yanks, Pads(huh), and others, but turned it down out of loyalty to Castro.....
  10. try that one again What I meant to say is that it sucks we'll never not hate not seeing, ah, [expletive] it.....Posting in meetings shouldn't be permitted.
  11. I hate that its highly unlikely we'll never see him in the majors as a Cub.
  12. I see a reference to him batting 5th in game 2. [expletive], you're right.
  13. Updated lineup has Bryant 5th in it.
  14. Flying west to east sucks.
  15. Campana has 10 AB's in the majors this year. Hasn't been hurt either with 100 games played in AAA. KT has admitted he's not exactly comfortable dealing with Theo and his large brain, this ain't gonna help KT's confidence.
  16. Hughes AND Lincecum or just one of them?
  17. Can someone tell me what separates Rosscup from Jeff Beliveau? The velo is about the same, unless I'm mistaken. Beliveau was a stud in AA at 24, Rosscup at 25, with slightly less control. I don't know that Rosscup is an absolute "must add" to the 40 man, until he pitches well in the AFL.
  18. I think Olt will be our 3B next year myself. Maybe Barney gets dealt for a Kelvin Herrera type? Allow Valbuena to play 2B, with Watkins or a scrap heap veteran as the backup until Alcantara is ready?
  19. The Reed Johnson comps are from McLeod, not me. Rosscup could be more than a LOOGY and if he is, then he's likely got more value than a 4th OFer, which Szczur may or may not be himself. At any rate, I'll rethink my positioning on Rosscup if he pitches well in AAA and/or the AFL.
  20. Hendricks can hit 94? Jason Cole is the writer for LoneStarDugout, so he's more familiar than most, when it comes to Hendricks.
  21. I think the Reed Johnson comps on Szczur could be fairly accurate. I don't think things would be horribly wrong if we wound up with a Reed type as a 4th OFer, but saying that-I figure Szczur has his major league career elsewhere.
  22. Fujikawa won't be back until midseason and thats if he recovers correctly. After looking over the FA OFers, I'm not thinking DeJesus or Schierholtz is dealt. The only OFer I could see moving is Lake, if the Cubs see a "sell-high" opportunity out there.
