    It's much easier to see us with a 110 mill payroll and a contending roster in 2014 than it is to see the Yanks at 200 mill with one. They're going to be stuck for a while.

    I picture Almora's high as being a perennial .300 hitter. 15-20 homers, and GG defense. Just he's far away and injury issues make it unlikely for him to reach. If he did though, what is that? A 5 or 6 WAR type?

    don't quite get the "GM of another team" aspect of this ranking. Eh, testing out long term positions is what I was going for. If you trade for Javy, for instance, is he a SS or something else to your team? Knowing full well every team is different as it is. Silly wording on my part.

    The guys easiest to remove from our 40 man at this point seem to be Brett and Vitters. Szczur too. Brett being the one that could be DFA'd obviously. Gamel could get DFA'd too, forgot about him. Pitching-wise, Cabrera seems likely to be dealt to me, since he has no options left. Lim needs to prove more over the offseason to get us to pick up his option(2.5?). Bard could get DFA'd and re-signed for less depending on how broken he is. That's about it though, I don't look at Raley as being in any trouble of getting non-rostered.

    Alcantara is the only obvious add we've got. The FO has said nice things about Jokisch, so I'd tentatively think he'd be our second choice. I guess Loosen or Beeler with a strong AFL showing could get added. Still never got clarification on Ben Wells and his odd provision about getting added in 2013. That's worth monitoring. Paniagua's struggles help keep him from being a guy teams may draft, if left off. Of course, if MLB looks at his situation for what it truly is, he's not eligible yet anyway. Can see Jae Hoon Ha getting taken in the rule 5, maybe one of those other pitchers I just listed, that we don't protect.

    Both Soler's K's yesterday were in 7 pitch at bats with full counts.

    19.6 LD%, .258 BABIP, with an 11% BB rate, and a sub 20% K rate. I see nothing that tells me he wasn't just really, really [expletive] unlucky.

    I thought I saw $1.5 for the first year, $1.5 for the second year, and then either $500k buyout of $2.5 for a third year. It is, I read it wrong.

    Velo be damned,(and it's low 90's) when all is said and done, I'll be surprised if Aaron Nola isn't one of the top 10 collegiate players drafted.

    Like someone said earlier, Jay isn't Peyton Manning. It's going to take some time for the offense to be great. And it's pretty good already. Personally, I'm loving Trestman's effect so far. The D is old and there was only so much change we could make in one offseason. Focus the next draft on D and this team is going to continue improving. I really like the direction overall. Emery and Trestman are an excellent pair to have in charge as far as I'm concerned.

    My hope is Callis legitimizes their rankings. Don't think they've made any changes since he's been there. Mayo is a joke though.
