  1. I'm irrationally excited. Didn't give a [expletive] about Dusty or Lou(not like this anyway)
  2. His [expletive] RV's name is Cousin Eddie. I love this man.
  3. Edit:Crap, that was touched on in the thread below.... Arrieta Hendricks Wada Wood Turner Doubront Straily Jackson Jokisch That's my guess at the current depth chart.
  4. By the way, it's NOT the Cubs on Guerrero Jr, according to Kiley.
  5. I don't think it'll take Castillo to get a deal done. If we're eating the full salary, Im thinking something like Daury Torrez and Victor Caratini would get it done.
  6. I think McCarthy will get a longer term deal than I'd care to give him. I'm more than fine with Lester and one of Masterson or Peavy. I want no part of Robertson but could easily be sold on Andrew Miller, IF we add a bullpen arm that's worthy of a major league contract. I'm fine with Martin on up to a 4 year deal, only because I think he's a nice upgrade for the first two. And I'd think we'd likely find fairly decent value if we traded Castillo, maybe even getting the OF we're likely to add that way.
  7. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/11/2014-15-top-50-free-agents-with-predictions.html Cubs wind up with Lester, Martin, David Robertson?, Masterson, and Peavy. With a caveat they don't think the Cubs sign 3 pitchers, just see them as the favorites for each. No way in hell they sign Robertson, in my eyes.
  8. Didn't Tampa literally alert Maddon of his opt out ability? Hard for me to think this was something planned out in advance.
  9. That is awesome. I'd be Perfectly fine with a Lester/Peavy combo.
  10. His contract isn't even bad, coupled with the fact Philly is a major market team and money isn't an issue for them. They don't HAVE to trade him and Amaro is known to be an idiot on top of everything. If you ran them, what benefit is there to just open up enough salary to go get one guy to replace him with? They need an injection of youth and even they know that. And they also have to know their system isn't good enough to produce it or has the ability to trade for it. He's their best shot at replenishing some of that and if anything, they'd likely try to get even MORE for him by offering to pay some of the contract, to get an even better haul. Quality over quantity.
  11. Good God. Still hoping its not true.
  12. Shields loved playing for him, saw that earlier this morning. I still think its a slimmest of slim shots, but POSSIBLE, to wind up with Lester, Scherzer, or Hamels AND Shields.
  13. Is he bilingual?
  14. I'd rather just sign Rasmus on a one year deal or give Markakis the 4/48 MLBTR projects he'll get, than trade an Alcantara or something like that for Blackmon.
  15. We can shut it down. No one else will come close to that much insight in a review of our prospects. Not that we didn't know it, but exciting to read it anyway. Man, I think BP is alone in their love for Tseng.
  16. Two things here can directly affect us that aren't really related to the Dodgers immediate on field product: 1) I could see Friedman targeting McLeod to be his GM. I know he turned down SD, his hometown team, but could he actually turn down the Dodgers? 2) Friedman went over his cap in IFA for Tampa, with us expecting to do so this year, I fully expect the Dodgers to spend more than the Yankees did last year now that Friedman has no monetary concerns at all.
  17. I'm pretty sure he passed thru waivers unclaimed in August. But they wouldn't just dump him anyway.
  18. Colletti isn't likely to make it to the offseason.
  19. Pass. Punt. Kick out of bounds, whatever. But there are no reports on this guy making him out to be better than a middle of the rotation type and most say back end type. Why are you guys even thinking more than an Edwin type deal for THAT?
  20. I read Francona's autobiography and there was a great Manny story in it: A team they were playing in the playoffs accused Manny of stealing their signs. The ump went to Francona and Francona told the ump to go to Manny and ask him what their OWN signs were. Ump did and Manny said "I don't know, they just tell me to play and keep my brain clean" Ump went back to the other team thoroughly convinced Manny wasn't guilty.
  21. Agree. That said, if we punt the 2nd, I'd just as soon punt the 3rd too.
  22. That's just flat out bad. I'm not even necessarily a Tseng mark. But he's easily inside my top 10. They missed the boat bigtime on him and Torres.
  23. if this is true, lmao I think it's so out there that it basically has to be true. Can PTR get the city to contribute though? What do the rooftops have to say about this? And can adding to the play area pass the rigorous city zoning laws? And if so, what if they have to order extra steel for it? Can it be done in time? Too many unknowns here, I think the Yankees are the clear favorites.
  24. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/building-jake-arrieta/ Great article by Jeff Sullivan on Arrieta's breakout.
