    This gets asked time and again, but what would it take to get Montero and would it be worth it? He was very well thought of before the trade to the Mariners. Not much. But he's a DH or 1B. We've got no where to give him AB's. He can't catch anymore and he's a schmuck. Not worth anything to us.

    Almora is only 4 months older than McKinney, the positional value is enough for me to keep him over McKinney for NOW. But he needs to have a better year next season obviously.

    It's the first injury of CJ's career and he's pitched very well since coming back. I'm not dropping him yet.

    One of you guys will know this: Is there any truth to the old theory that power arms do better in the postseason? If so, having Hendricks and Maeda throwing in the playoffs may not be a great idea. Again, no clue if there's any truth to it or not.

    [expletive], in all honesty.....If we didn't have Kyle, Goony, SSR, and some others, this place wouldn't have had anything to talk about over these shitty seasons. And as unfortunate as this may sound, I don't know a single real life Cub fan who cares for this [expletive] as much as the guys here. When we win, Im happy for all of us idiots who spend countless hours babbling on and on about THE PLAN, no matter what side anyone's been on.

    This seems irrationally optimistic. If not for injuries you're EXPECTING us to go to the playoffs 9 out of 10 seasons? It's either that or admit that being terrible for three years sucks and isn't awesome. 50 years from now...... Here lies Kyle, who's long life was still cut 5 years short because the Chicago Cubs only averaged 63 wins between 2012-2014 and not 73.

But the bottom line is I do expect 5 playoff appearances over their initial 10 year run. How it happens, how we miss going forward, doesn't matter to me.

    I can't see Wood getting much of a raise honestly. I thought 5 was fair there. Castillo? Total stab on that on that one. I don't see Wright or Strop being far off either. I guess I can see being low on Ruggiano, maybe Castillo.

    That's fine. Again, there's the WC. This way still set us up much better for years 6-10 than trying to piece things together for one POTENTIAL playoff possibility prior to now.

    Who makes the playoffs 5-6 straight years in the current parity-heavy environment? A team in a division that doesn't have to worry about anyone else flat out buying one and has a ridiculous amount of young talent. Lots of other teams in the division have ridiculous amounts of young talent. I'm glad to know The Plan has made us magically immune to runs of injuries or negative variance. No one has our young talent base and injuries are accounted inside that. One horrible year full of injuries and one year we may have some or just may not play well enough to get it done. And this is not taking into account that we could make the playoffs next year. Not to mention that if you look at the East or West, no one is scary moving forward. It wouldn't shock me if both WC's come from our division fairly often over this period of time.

    Do you mean 5 times out of 13 or 5 times out of 10? 5 of 10 and for it to be in good enough shape to expect no less than 3 of the next 5 after that.

    That's the mid-year of their fifth season. Don't hurt yourself bending over to set the bar that low. Come on, we don't need to go through all that [expletive] again. If we're a consistent playoff team from 2016 moving forward, I'm happy enough. With the only caveat being if we don't win a WS during the regime, it's still a failure to me. Apparently we *do* need to go through it again. We really don't. If they set us up and we make the playoffs 5 times in a 10 year period, maybe 6, I'm not complaining. Especially since we'll likely not have a fall off after that either and there's no guarantee this group isn't here longer than 10 as it is.
