  1. I think I saw the D-Backs are paying 6.5 of Hill's deal. At any rate, according to Law, they've now traded their 1st rounder from 2015, their 1st and 4th from 2014, and their 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounders from 2013.
  2. They don't have an awful team.(and you're right, that INF looks pretty decent) Its that they could do so much more. I can't stand Cameron, but his tweet made a lot of sense. They didn't want to give up their 2nd rounder in order to sign Kendrick, but they'll give up a guy(Diaz) that's probably worth more than the pick, for a guy(Segura)that's likely not as good as the guy they could have just signed, especially during what's likely Greinke's best years..... Its not a bad team, they conceivably have a slim shot at the playoffs, they just took a dumb as hell road to get there.
  3. It got me thinking as to what percentage of players actually think like this? I have no idea, but I'd think it'd be a very small amount honestly. But, I also feel extremely confident that our guys preach this stuff to the kids coming up and also feel like these are the types we'd acquire as FA or through trade as well. (duh, with Heyward and Zobrist). I'd certainly think we've got much more of this type of attitude on our roster than most do.
  4. I don't really care about lineup construction either, as long as the better hitters are hitting early, but I don't think I've ever heard that the 3rd spot is less important than 4 or 5 before.(if I have, I've glossed over it due to indifference). That's at least kind of interesting.
  5. Happ is at 76 too. With the amount of top 100's we've seen from BP and MLB, a top 10 system rank seems certain from those 2. Sickels won't be, in fact I could see us landing outside the top half from him.
  6. I trust David's description, but because it was Coghlan, I almost didn't listen. But damn, it really was fantastic. Didn't expect that kind of insight out of him.
  7. Gets 2/20 after turning down 1/15.8......Geez. That's definitely one part of the CBA that'll get changed somehow. Personally, I wish they'd just go back to exactly the way it was, as far as type A and type B guys. Give teams losing them picks, don't penalize teams for signing them and do away with draft budgets, plus the no major league deals right off the bat could be reinstated. Won't happen, but it seemed fairer then than it does now.
  8. - we gave a private workout to Heredia, along with the Astros and "several other teams" That's it for any teams attached to any players. Ah thanks, Tim. He's been out there an awful long time after becoming eligible.
  9. Badler had a piece today on the IFA's that aren't pool restricted. Anything of note with the Cubs in it, by any chance?
  10. I think some of Gato's trades are realistic. I don't think Cole or Meyer would be on the table, but who knows? They've got issues and aren't THAT young anymore. But the rest look pretty realistic. Its Coghlan. And just one year of him at that. I wouldn't expect too much of a return. I've seen things that teams look at him as a 4th OF and WAR be damned, its probably correct. A top 20 in the system arm and a young upside flier type-I'd be fine with that. A guy like Skaggs seems way outside that realm unless he's not recovered well from TJS and they just wanted to cut bait.
  11. I think my ideal OF move at this stage is to trade Coghlan for the best minor league pitcher he'll bring and sign Austin Jackson.
  12. I get what Gato is saying, but if I'm Colorado, I'd flip him NOW, due to injury concerns and just the possibility he could struggle. If he does pitch well though, I doubt there's much of a difference, if any, as to the value they'd get at the deadline versus now.
  13. Here's my order of preference at this point..... 10. 3B/OF Vargas 9. LHP Perez 8. CF Machado 7. RHP Gutierrez 6. OF Armenteros 5. RHP Bolanos 4. IF/OF Arozarena 3. LHP Morejon 2. RHP Ruiz 1. OF Ona
  14. Here's a make shift list of the Cubans, as of now..... OF Eddy Julio Martinez- CUBS (3 MILL) OF Yusnier Diaz- DODGERS (15.5 MILL) 2B Omar Estevez- DODGERS (6 MILL) P Carlos Sierra- ASTROS (UNKNOWN) P Yaisel Sierra- DODGERS (6-30 MILL) SS Alfredo Rodriguez- REDS (6 MILL) Eligible players restricted to IFA guidelines IF/OF Randy Arozarena(1st round talent) OF Jonatan Machado (supplemental, 2nd round talent) Cards considered favorites OF Lazarito Armenteros(??????? as to what his talent level is) SS Annibal Sierra ( no hit, all glove guy-Arrubarruena with no attitude) P Vladimir Gutierrez(1st round talent....May not be that anymore?) P Johan Oviedo(18 yrs old, 94-96 mph) Ineligible players(may become eligible at any time) 1B/3B Yordan Alvarez-20 has pop, position in question OF Lazaro Alfonzo-21 good hitting corner OF OF Jorge Ona-19(1st round talent) power prospect, profiles as a corner OF with middle of the order potential. Padres considered favorites SS Diosbel Ariel Morales-20- glove first guy with no bat 3B/OF Lazaro Vargas-16(1st round potential, but very late defection) has power and excellent lineage P Norge Ruiz-21(1st round talent) 89-93, excellent pedigree. Cubs interested in him. LHP Luis Estrada-21 92-93, needs control LHP Cionel Perez-19(very solid potential, if not 1st round) 95+, smaller guy, likely winds up in pen. Cubs interested in him. P Ronald Bolanos-19(very solid potential, if not 1st round) was just clocked 94-96 with control, newer to pitching LHP Adrian Morejon-16(1st round potential)91-93, with control and command. Padres considered favorites LHP Pedro Duran-24- upper 80's, LOOGY upside P Roddy Castello-23- upper 80's to low 90's, control guy Eligible players not subject to IFA rules CF Guillermo Heredia-24 glove ready, bat may develop 2B Pavel Quesada-27 known as a good hitter, has pop 3B Luis La O(very solid, if not 1st round talent) good defensively, decent bat, not a ton of pop OF Yadiel Hernandez-27, 4th OFer type, good OBP, comped to Nava. Cubs interested in him P Jorge Hernandez-25, supposedly throws 95, but only has FB LHP Julio Alfredo Martinez-24 crafty, upper 80's, possibly LOOGY Some of the ages are likely wrong, I'm going mostly off memory here. A few of the comments are fuzzy too...Alfonzo, Alvarez, Duran, Castello in particular) Plenty of others are out there, both eligible and not. But these guys all have received at least a tiny bit of pub when they defected or from showcases.
  15. Jesse Sanchez ‏@JesseSanchezMLB 4m4 minutes ago Sources: Cuban players Yander La O (INF), Henry Quintero (INF), catcher Oscar Valdez and Anibal Sierra (SS) were declared free agents by MLB La O is fairly significant, but he's a 3B, so I doubt we've got a lot of interest there. Not subject to bonus pools. Sierra is a glove first SS, Quintero was very well regarded(2B) until he got fat. Also not subject to bonus pools. Valdez is a guy I'm not aware of. At any rate, it's good to see some guys getting cleared, we just need it to be some of the others(Morejon, Ruiz, Bolanos, Cionel Perez, Jorge Ona) to happen pretty quickly.
  16. My first reaction to this was of excitement, thinking the Rockies would immediately flip him for prospects. The tone doesn't appear as if that's likely though and the Rockies aren't exactly smart anyway..... At any rate, I'd still love to get McGee somehow.
  17. Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 45s46 seconds ago Sources: Second pitcher going to #Rockies along with McGee is not considered one of #Rays’ top 10 prospects. Do not yet know name.
  18. lol he's actually writing that? pls just stop acknowledging that that idiot exists I don't even follow him. The Watt guy mentioned it was coming tomorrow even though he didn't agree with it. That ones just so stupid I had to bring it up lol. But yeah, completely ignoring the [expletive] is the best solution.
  19. Best rotation and best lineup. Can't wait to see this dumb ass article tomorrow explaining why its a good idea to let Theo walk.
  20. They ARE the only team in the AL picked to finish more than 9 games behind the division winner. What a crapshoot going on there.
  21. It did bring back the name of Robinson Chirinos...... Your hatred there destroys mine of the idiot on BP Wrigleyville.
  22. Yeah, I thought I remembered a 26 or something. I think it may have been Tim actually.
  23. I wasn't around when it started, but guys have just posted or quoted "Geovany Soto" for a long time. I always figured it was because he was so great that one year. you've been around since 2005 so you were def around when it started maybe not as much but yeah I joined back while I was on another site, but didn't pay attention(or remember at least) much until I left the other place and started posting here. I didn't remember even joining way back then.
