He can still recruit. Hearing how great the city is, how good it is to have the backing of the FO......It just sounds better coming from a bigtime player, than it does from anyone else. He's one of the most well liked and respected players around. Plus, it takes away the fact none of the big guys choose Chicago. He IS older, it MAY not help. But its worth a shot. Just need to keep him happy and healthy now to see. This just seems like a stretch; even though Wade is still a big name, everyone knows he's at the end of his career, and recruiting seems to work best when the player recruited knows they're going to be (at least in theory), y'know, actually playing with the guy recruiting them for a while. It would be one thing if it's Wade and the Bulls are one of a few teams with money to spend; but since everyone has big money to spend, why would Wade's recruiting have that much weight since he's going to be gone so quickly and there's so many better, younger guys out there doing the same? If anything, I have more hope in Butler talking to guys trying to get them to come to Chicago. Then Wade is basically the veteran who gets hired to hang around a car dealership and sells cars just by waving at people. I mean, he's buddies with CP3. Realistically, I could see him helping there. Blake Griffin? Not so much, unless its by getting CP3 on board. Then letting him convince Blake. Wade lends credibility. That's all it comes down to, really. He's not going to be able to snap his fingers and bring guys in. But he can help. Not with all, but he's got connections and he'll use whatever he's got. Put it this way- I'd feel much more comfortable with Wade in a one on one meeting with a FA than I would the best the FO can muster up otherwise. I also think that a FA would put more emphasis on the beginning of the contract, which Wade will be there for. Then Wade can sell them on the city, the FO being committed to winning past him, etc...... Like I said, it may not help. Our FO may not even be able to keep him happy. But the signing does give some hope for what COULD happen in the near future. But I totally get the other side of the coin, either way......Its at least going to be very interesting.
