  1. Or its because he's considered an untouchable(with KB, Rizzo, Addy, Schwarber, and Willie) and teams have been told not to bother. a - javy would never be considered an untouchable by this FO (because they aren't stupid - and i like javy) b - that hasn't stopped schwarber from being mentioned in a [expletive] ton of rumors. Look, no ones truly untouchable obviously. That shouldn't even need to be said. But Theo has said he doesn't want to trade from the major league team. He's talked about how valuable Javy is and flat out made fun of NY rumors on Schwarber. Heyman(I think) put out an article that said Javy is a non-starter. There's been other articles that have piggybacked off it too. Javy was mentioned all last trade season as a target. He's certainly improved his value since then too. He's not a guy we want to move.
  2. i'm of course lower on Baez, but it's also that SS is becoming talent-rich league-wide where you can't see much more than 3 or 4 or teams where he'd present an organizational upgrade, and also his value drops a bit if you're forcing a move and you don't seem to hear him mentioned in any of the trade talks where other teams are setting a high line and he's the one they're after...possibly they conclude that he's more likely a losing player as he's shown to this point Or its because he's considered an untouchable(with KB, Rizzo, Addy, Schwarber, and Willie) and teams have been told not to bother.
  3. It was somewhere on RealGM. Pretty sure it was hours prior to him signing here. Wasn't about 2010. Can't find it in all the damn Wade stuff over there currently. Fairly sure it had its own thread but got merged in with one of the others.
  4. So, here's a list of Starting Pitchers I could see being available......Preferences? Keep in mind acquisition cost, though..... Eovaldi- NYY 1 of Archer, Odorizzi, Smyly, or Moore.....Plus Cobb.-TB 1 of Nolasco or Santana. Maybe Kyle Gibson.-Minn Shoemaker-LAA Maybe Walker or Paxton-Sea Gray, Hill-Oak Chatwood or Bettis-Col Bradley-Ariz Pomeranz-SD Hellickson-Phil Teheran-ATL Chances of being dealt(absolutely accurate obviously) Eovaldi-50% Archer-10% Moore-30% Odorizzi-35% Smyly-25% Cobb-50% Nolasco-40% Santana-50% Gibson-25% Shoemaker-40% Walker-10% Paxton-20% Gray-40% Hill-90% Chatwood-30% Bettis-30% Bradley-20% Pomeranz-60% Hellickson-75% Teheran-20% Eovaldi is easy for the Yanks to move. Tampa will definitely move a guy, maybe 2. God, Minnesota sucks. I'm sure Nolasco and Santana will be available. No idea if anyone wants them. Shoemaker is decent, the Angels are a wild card, my gut says he'll stay put. Gray needs to pitch well in order to regain the value needed to move him. Hill is gone, if healthy. If Seattle falls out of contention, I could see them dealing Paxton or Walker, maybe for ML guys. Soler involved maybe? Colorado needs pitching, but I could see them moving a decent arm, just not Gray. Stewart isn't a huge Bradley fan, I could see them moving him. Hellickson will get dealt. I don't see Atlanta moving Teheran for a multitude of reasons.
  5. He's said something like that. He's also said having a multi position guy, like Javy, is invaluable. Schwarber isn't going anywhere. They've given no indication on Soler either. But I think he's easily the expendable one, if they do. He probably needs to be back playing before we'll be able to deal him though.
  6. Its an extremely valid point. Its kind of what I was heading towards when I posted needs and stuff earlier. I wanted to see the true supply and demand side of things to see where our best bets were. Even Theo has said he expects to add a reliever from outside the org, so that ones easy. But I think we'd need to open up the market to see whether its feasible to add both an OF and a SP on top of that. Or which one has the best chance to give us help for a slightly cheaper price. My legit guess at what we're dealing away...... Baez Soler Candelario Vogelbach Torres 2 of Zagunis, Caratini, and McKinney La Stella I think Happ and Eloy stick around. So does that group of guys get us a RP, SP, and an OF? Obviously, it could. But its dependent upon the impact of the guy(s) we'd acquire. Also, if we actually moved all or most of that group. forgot one You know he's not going anywhere.
  7. I don't look at that group quite the same. My guess is when Dex is back, we'll send Almora back down to get him consistent AB's. He'll be back for September(earlier if injury dictates) and the playoffs. Coghlan isn't a factor to me at all. He could be DFA'd in August. Contreras will get some time in LF, but he's going to get 3 of 5 behind the plate, from the looks of things. He'll get a few days off here and there, but so will Dex and Heyward. KB will get some time in the OF, to give Javy some starts in the IF. Szczur is a backup. My guess is he doesn't get 10 starts the rest of the year. Soler seems to be the guy who gets dealt, to me. If he's healthy by the deadline anyway. Same with Seal Boy. 70 Games(Starts per player in OF) Dex-60 Heyward-60 Contreras-20(plus 42 at C) KB-20 Szczur-10 That leaves 40. Yes, they could go to any of Coghlan, Soler, or LA Stella. But I think all 3 will be gone personally. A Reddick could take all those games, plus a few more, and the AB's could still be fine for everyone. Edit-Forgot Almora, but I'd figure he gets 15 or so. But we've got Interleague coming too, so there's 8 DH games coming up too. In order to outbid all the teams that actually need a left fielder for Reddick, you're going to have to be prepared to give up a serious prospect or two for him. To get the upgrade from Soler/et al to Reddick, are you willing to give up 6+ years of someone like Happ? If you say we'll pay less than that, just keep in mind a team like Cleveland that may actually be one bat away. Do you think that the team is going to unload enough prospects to get a top tier reliever and a starter and bat? If not, which do you think they'll sacrifice first? Its an extremely valid point. 9. I figure they want another lefty bat with pop, since Heyward hasn't been that, so far. Kind of what they originally envisioned, with Schwarber this season. He'd see pitches, grind out AB's... .That stuff. Replenishes some lost depth, makes it that much easier to deal Soler for pitching......
  10. hey, man, you're stealing my article! :) Oh, go for it! Looks like there's some intriguing arms on some of the sellers that aren't getting talked about.
  11. Not that our prospect rankings matter at all now, but we're going to take a serious hit. Contreras, Almora, and Edwards are going to graduate and we'll lose others at the deadline too. Our year end lists are going to be interesting.
  12. So, what're we looking at for buyers and sellers..... Buyers- Orioles, Red Sox, Blue Jays,Yankees, Indians, Tigers, Royals, White Sox, Rangers, Astros, Mariners, Nats, Marlins, Mets, Cubs, Cards, Pirates, Giants, Dodgers Of those, its conceivable a few of the Yankees, Tigers, Royals, White Sox, or Mariners change course or just hold at the deadline. Sellers- Rays, Twins, A's, Angels, Braves, Phillies, Reds, Brewers, Diamondbacks, Padres, and Rockies Team Needs O's- OF and SP Red Sox- SP and BP Blue Jays- SP Yankees- SP(outgunned hitting-wise, easiest team to look at and figure they'll sell obviously) Indians- 3B, OF, BP Tigers-SP, BP Royals- 2B, 3B, OF, SP White Sox- OF, SP Rangers-SP, BP Astros-OF, SP Mariners-1B, OF, BP Nats- OF, BP Marlins- SP Mets- 3B, OF Cubs- OF, SP, BP Pirates-SS, BP Cards-OF,BP Giants-OF, BP Dodgers-OF, SP, BP I may be a bit off on needs, by a Fangraphs glance, I wouldn't list SP as a need for us, if I weren't a fan of the team. But, this should be fairly close..... Little bit harder to identify what exactly some of the sellers will sell. But I'll try and add to this later on this evening. If anyone has other needs for some of the buyers, let me know.
  13. he's at 4.4% now lol I haven't been paying close attention to the numbers and have only been sparingly watching this team the last week because it is soooo depressing, but it seems like he has been walking a ton the last week or two. He's also getting a lot deeper into counts, but again, that's just what it has seemed like to me. You're talking to someone that thinks he's Marwin Gonzalez
  14. Last year the Braves were coming after Soler and Contreras according to the rumors. Captilizing now does nothing for me, the whole fear mongering of rumored asking prices died when Hamels went for solid but not franchise crushing prospects. Invoking Theo does nothing for me either, otherwise I'd speak for him casually all the time too. The FO will buy the best talent for the short and long term that the farm system can afford to trade for. There will probably be a mix of both at the deadline since what they've built is here to stay beyond 2016. Last year, they would have done Soler for Teheran, straight up. They want MORE now, than they did then. Its not a hard concept to follow. Its the same as when the Phillies did NOT trade Hamels. At some point in the next year, the Braves probably will lower their price on him or just decide to keep him, period. But, by all means......Please reference me some trades where Theo paid true, absolute top prices for. Teheran isn't happening right now. Quote me, whatever.....Theo even said some teams are going to pay more than us this year, based on more of a true need.
  15. Last year, the asking price wasn't ridiculous. It is NOW, there's no way Theo buys at the top of the market.
  16. The rep thing is definitely still there. You had Mike calling Wade and ask if he's sure he wanted to come to Chicago.
  17. Is that like when the Phillies were coming after all the Bryants and Russells in baseball? I'd love Hill too. Hill does not solve the longer term SP depth issues and won't be super duper cheap to trade for either, but he fits. You do remember the Phillies didn't even trade Hamels that year, right?
  18. You're doing it again. Doing what? I have no clue what the hell you mean by "pampering him," and your next post didn't do anything to clear that up. If old ass Dwyane makes a mess, we've got the Depends waiting to go.
  19. What makes him a bad target is the asking price. They supposedly want either Moncada or Benintendi, plus more, from the Sox. He's not a guy they have to move and I see no reason whatsoever to pay enough to MAKE them trade him now. Give me Rich Hill.
  20. Wow ICYMI: 3 points for Buster's bank shot #SFGiants https://t.co/MqDw4OiK13
