  1. If they're going after a guy like Reddick, I really think Soler gets dealt.
  2. I'd do that too. I'd rather it be Baez than Schwarb, if possible somehow, but I'd do it. I'd move either. Not to derail the thread, but my guess is Javy has more value than Kyle currently. Injury, plus positional issues for Kyle being the reasoning. Could just be me being a Javy mark too though. Although Law and the FG guys have sided that way too at different points this season. I'd move BOTH, plus Torres or Happ, plus Cease, if that's more than the other package I threw out. I love Sale.
  3. Sources: #Cubs are looking at Josh Reddick. Bat coming around after missing nearly 6 weeks with fractured thumb. Theo drafted him in Boston.- Morosi
  4. I think they'd let him rot before trading him to us. In a situation where it was possible to actually acquire him? I'd give up Schwarber/Soler/Torres/Happ/Cease.
  5. True. I think that's one big reason why Cashman is so hot for Schwarbs. He's a major league player but due to his injury he's not a factor this season. It all depends on the other teams' plans going forward. The Yankees aren't doing a fire sale for the purpose of a full blown rebuild. They're loaded with free agents to be, and unfortunately, most of them don't have a lot of value at this time, so they're dangling Miller as well. But they have the foundation and enough payroll coming off the books to be right back in the thick of contention next year, so they're going to seek someone like Schwarber, who can be a part of it. Sellers are asking for big league talent from us because they know we have a glut of young PP talent, but the cupboards bare in terms of pitching prospects. As for the Padres asking for Baez, the Padres are weird. Have you SEEN the FA class this upcoming off season? The Yankees are fucked for 2017. Much longer if they spend big this off season.
  6. It looks great, but it'd look much better once Russell, Hendricks, Rizzo, CJ, Grimm, and other guys that spent time in development are added. Hell, even Jake went to Iowa. And that's still not including rule 5ing Rondon...... As impressive as the draft/IFA adds look, the trades are just horsefeathering silly.
  7. I don't see how putting anybody in a top 30 organization ranking can be considered overly aggressive. At 11 though? Pretty aggressive after 4 innings in complex ball.
  8. What it means: Cubs acquire Mariners lefty Mike Montgomery https://t.co/VjDT3naP0d TT, I guess this was it. Theo mentions it as a possibility down the line anyway.
  9. And Paulino IS moving up to SB.
  10. horsefeathers, I've read and listened to so much.....I don't remember where it was. Maybe its a video though. Seem to remember him saying he's definitely getting used in the pen this year, but they haven't closed the door on him starting in the future. I'll try and search for it in a little while. Re-reading what you said, its not like he said its a definite he'll be rotation bound or anything though. I did get the vibe he's looking at it like they may have acquired Andrew Miller all over again too, at a stage before he's become elite. I'll search though in a little while.
  11. In a case where I hope like hell Dave Cameron is right......He was asked what he thought the Cards penalty would be and said a loss of 3-5 1st round picks, a ban on signing IFA's for an extended period of time and a massive fine.
  12. Theo definitely makes it sound like we'll give Montgomery a shot at starting in the future. I'm more curious as to his current role though. Just a Richard replacement? Or do we use him in some high leverage spots early on to see if he can handle it? I can see either, I guess. I'm HOPING we give him a few chances prior to the deadline and it gives us more leverage than we've already got.
  13. I accidentally put that in the wrong thread. But move him up.
  14. Paulino- 7 2 0 0 1 7 for Eugene. ERA at 0.51. Move him up FFS.
  15. A few pages back, I listed all the guys I'd figured would be available. I looked at Montgomery and didn't even include him, due to how much control the M's had on him. Definitely wouldn't have thought we could get him for what we did.
  16. Thank God, way back when......They don't did a trade.
  17. I'm in the same boat. I see how great it'd be to add that talent. If we add him......Whatever. I'll deal with it and I'll know the team is better. I hope we add Miller or Colome though, if we add a big pen piece. But I'd much prefer to add a SP anyway.
  18. Not a good outing for Nathan. Got an out, then walked the bases loaded. 8 strikes in 21 pitches tonight.
  19. Theo mentioned not involving anyone they're talking about in other deals. Even mentioned "bigger". I'm sure they'd still love to add Miller. But its obviously going to be their terms, as Cashman's heart just sank, seeing this deal. Welcome to being a seller, Brian. I'm with Gato......If we're adding something big, I really hope its an SP now. Between Montgomery, Matusz, and Nathan, we've helped the pen quite a bit. Not to mention, CJ showing up. By all means, add more......But it doesn't need to be a major deal. Find a cost controlled SP, if possible.
  20. If he's the main piece going back, I like it. A lot.
  21. Hmm, I'm not positive Jesse would consider anyone outside of Cano or Felix a big name for them.
  22. Paxton is a starter. But he's a guy that COULD open it up in short spurts conceivably.
  23. He said something along the lines of Theo is working the phones as we speak I heard he's made a deal with Seattle earlier today, but I don't have names......
