  1. Count me in on Cabrera.
  2. They're both playing lousy teams. At least Milw is losing C. Wilson with a 2 run bomb. Bucs 2 Cards 2
  3. Who do they have left in the pen?
  4. Great stuff. Eyre and Demp are two of a kind.
  5. Will be on in a few minutes.
  6. Vance, you are one lucky man. 8)
  7. You're reading too much into it, IMO. Plus, we need Cabrera in April, early May. Not June. It's too late in June. . Did you here that? "POP" That was my bubble.
  8. Did anyone catch when he said "You cant trade for a superstar in April?" 2 key words. "Superstar" "April" Maybe, just maybe, Jim is looking at Cabrera in May or June? Or maybe I'm just reading too much into that statement.
  9. Indeed. And by looking at this offense, we need Cabrera. We need someone to protect Aramis. We just need more offense period. Go get Cabrera.
  10. It is something that needs to be done. It would be a MAJOR move in the right direction, IMO. It would show the fans and TEAM that this organization is committed to winning. Would our farm system take a hit? Sure. But on the other hand, you need to look at the ages of the players on the Cubs starting line-up. VERY young and very good. If you can keep the core of these young guys around, and there is no reason why you cant, then your looking at 3,4 or 5 years to restock the farm. It's a no brainer for me. But the question is does Hendry have the stones to do it? My guess is no. And that is a shame. I hope he proves me wrong. I think it's a stretch to say it needs to be done. It would be nice to do, though. It is, as all trades are, a balancing act of potential progress versus loss. The Cubs aren't in a great negotiating position because everybody knows they want somebody who can fill in for Lee's absent bat, and the Marlins are under no obligation to trade Cabrera. In addition, they just got a starter and 2 prospects for Pierre--a more expensive and far inferior player--so there's a chance for an enormous hit to a farm system that is just now starting to rebuild. Florida needs a 2nd baseman. I'd think they would want Patterson in the deal. I'd give them almost whatever they want (no Z or Prior, but any group of minor leaguers) Yep yep. It would be nice to see the Cubs make a BOLD move for a change.
  11. Dude, come on. The least you can do is spell our MVP candidate's name right. Derrick, please. That's not even close. As for this team, I would hardly call it great, I think with Lee in the lineup we have a decent team THIS YEAR, but that's only because the NL isn't very good as whole this year. I don' care what anybody else thinks or what Bob's personal statistical opinion on the matter is. This team isn't going to make the playoffs this year without DLee playing for a couple months. Honestly, I hope somebody remembers this and, if we make the playoffs, ridicules me relentlessly for it. But I don't see Cubs 2006 and making the playoofs in the same sentence. Does anyone else love it when karma comes through right away like this? :D

You are right Warp. I guess I need to replace the word need with should. The move should be made. You also bring up some valid points on the Pierre front. However, Pierre is a leadoff hitter. As many would say, a pretty good one. Pretty good leadoff hitters are hard to come by. The Cubs can attest to that. Pierres demand was high. The ol' supply and demand theory. And you are right, you cant compare Pierre and Cabrera as players per say. Anyway, I think you can see what I mean. At least I hope so. I think I'm starting to confuse myself. I know what I want to say, but its hard to put into words. I just feel that if the Cubs have enough to get Cabrera, then they should.

  14. Thanks HHH. It does get frustrating at times. I'm just happy that they wanted to play. A lot of kids now days just want to sit in their rooms and play video games. I encourage them to play, but don't force them. Thats why I thought a video or DVD would help out, if they watch it over and over again they can get it. I work 12 hrs a day so my practice time with them is limited.
  15. Please??
  16. Where would Cabrera be playing now though? I'm all for it just as you are. I just don't see it as a "Jim Hendry" type of move. He's played SS, 3B, LF and RF. I think he can play 1B now. Move him to LF when Lee returns and platoon Murton with Jones (although I'd just bench Jones if he still sucks). I'd just put him in RF after Lee is back and trade Jones. Because Murton is probably going to be a great player, it would be wise to keep him for several years anchoring LF. Then IF Ramirez can't be signed after his contract is up, you have your new 3B. Very logical.
  17. I agree. This offense without Lee is average at best. Below average in the power department compared to the other NL Central teams. It was just 2 years ago when we had more than enough power hiters in the line-up. Now we have 1.
  18. Anyone?
  19. Can anyone here help me out? I have 2 girls ages 11 and 12, who are playing softball for the first time. Are there any videos or DVDs out there to help teach them the basics of hitting, catching and throwing? Thanks in advance.
  20. Like I said in Transactions, lets call the Marlins and see what they would want for Cabrera. See if Murton or Jones can play first for awile. The Cubs are gonna be real short on power if they don't do someting like that. Won't happen, but just an idea.
  21. Hendry will have to make a move....What do you think it will be?
