  1. Theo isn't the one putting up $45 million. That would be an ownership decision. Right........you pick: Theo or JH? I'm not sayin, I'm just sayin.
  2. Was just on ESPN, Buster Olny thinks the Red Sox won the bid, with a bid of between 38 and 45mm.
  3. Does anyone else feel like this is when you were 8 years old waiting for Christmas day? Just to open up your presents and find that you didn't get what you wanted.
  4. I like Wuertz, but don't mind giving him up in a deal for a good regular. If you can deal away relievers for everyday difference makers, you have to do it. I just don't like Sheffield in that role. Right team, wrong player. Stick Wuertz in a deal for Arod.
  5. Well, since we are waiting, lets play GM. If you were the Cubs, what would your bid be. I thought all along that 28mm would do it. If they placed a bid of 28mm, and lost, I would be fine with that.
  6. Don't do this to me...... Well, if it was on ESPN 1000, it would have been all over this board. Do posters here actually listen to ESPN 1000? Yep, I do. Better than The Score.
  7. Don't do this to me...... Well, if it was on ESPN 1000, it would have been all over this board.
  8. What keeps coming to mind when I think of this is how the Cubs had scouts over there for awhile. I'm sure they done their homework. If he is worth the money, I'm thinking this year, the Cubs will shell it out. The Cubs just may surprise us.
  9. doh, that's probably not what you meant...good thing I'm sitting behind my desk.
  10. This is killing me. Someone has to leak something.
  11. According to MLB Trade Rumors, the buzz around Chicago is the Cubs will post $21 Million. Why would they let that leak out???
  12. Has there been anything new on the Arod front?
  13. Someone on Cubs.com posted a link for the NY Post, and it said the Cubs were 1 of 4 teams in the hunt. The others being the Yanks, Mets, and the Red Sox. I would post the link, but I'm computer stupid, so I'll the the smart guys do that.
  14. I think it was at or over $100MM. edited: Reported to be $102MM over 7 years. http://espn.go.com/mlb/news/2000/1202/920435.html Glad we lost that one.
  15. Geez, we might even have a shot at landing him at this point. Kuroda seems like he may/may not be staying in Japan, so maybe the Cubs will submit a serious bid for Matsuzaka instead of going for that rare 4th starter. 8) Who are the other serious players in this? The Yanks, Red Sox, and Mets. Any others?
  16. Jones like Soriano has to prove he can play CF. I think Soriano has the better tools to play CF over Jones. As far as Lee, how long till he eats himself into playing DH/1B? He's not that much better than M. Ramirez right now defensively. Speaking of, is there any chance of acquiring Ramirez this offseason? That would be nice. I always have liked Manny.
  17. Bruce, do you think it gets done?
  18. Greeny said "We will talk to you later when you trade for Arod."
  19. He will be on at 9:44 ET. Wonder what he will say.
  20. Was there any validity to the Ryno rumor, or just speculation?
  21. Well, he claims he never said that. Lou may or may not have said anything. But all the while, A-rod is sitting back watching and listening. I wonder what he is thinking. I wonder what "The Boss" is thinking?
  22. I would still like to see Wood in the Bullpen. But, that does look like a winner.
