    Thats why I say this is the year to grab him. The Cubs don't seem to have a problem spending money this year. And they want to win now.....

    I still say let the Sox sign Drew and that makes Manny more expendable.

    It has been mentioned that they are looking for a GG caliber SS. I think we are in a better position to make a deal for Manny than many people think.

    On mlbtraderumors Buster Olney lists the Cubs as a posible suiter for Manny. Throwing the names of Veal, Pie, Gallagher out there. I hope Hendry reads these things. =P~

    Manny gives you that too, plus he has a career OPS of over 1.1. I really don't get why anyone would want Drew over Manny, but that's just me. Count me in for Manny. It appears this year, unlike years past, that Manny could be had. It would be up to Manny do to his NTC. However, if the Sox sign Drew, it would make a Manny trade more realistic.

    Well yes, he and Lou could put on quite a show. :D Imagine what the Hustle Police would do with Manny jogging every ground ball and pop fly out? I've heard they're getting new sirens installed solely because ARam is coming back. If Manny was traded here they would, at the very least, need to double to number of policemen. Can the city of Chicago afford that kind of investment? I'm not so sure. YES THEY CAN.

    Well, I wouldnt believe rosenthal if he said the sky was blue; but in that case then Jones + Eyre (do they need a lefty?) for ManRam? I'd even throw in Izturis and get hold of Lugo. Jones, Izzy, Eyre and take on Mannys salary. Seems the Cubs have "Money is no object attitude." Let the Sox sign Drew. It actually seems to fit both teams needs. Makes a lot of sense if you really look at it.

    Would that really surprise anyone at this point? Heck yes. Less so for Tejada, but if he pulled off an ARod deal and didn't cripple our farm system, I'd be floored. I wonder how many times Lou and ARod have talked since he became Cubs Manager? :-k

    Money really dosen't seem to be an issue this year either. Maybe, just maybe they ARE serious about the WS.

    I think it was Ken Rosenthal, who said last night after the DeRosa signing that the Cubs looked like they were trying to package a young pitcher, either Cedeno or Theriot and Jacque Jones to get a corner OF with power. Something does seem up. If his name is Miguel Cabrera I'll be a happy camper. I was thinking Burrell, but they don't really need a middle infielder. Boston for Manny? Yes please. Do you think Hendry has it in him? He does seem WELL motivated this year.

    Well said -- I mostly agree except I don't think it's necessarily too much to pay if he's expected to be a starter. Prices are up this year. I'm not quite as bummed about this signing as I was the Izzy signing; we now have two back-of-the-lineup guys with DeRosa and Izzy (not to mention Cedeno) ... I was really hoping for Ray Durham at 2B and to bat leadoff :cry: I can't really blame you there, having Izturis on this team really bugs me. I'm hoping that Hendry works a miracle and gets him out of here. Can Izzy play third?
