  1. Bruce, if you had to guess right now, what would the Cubs starting rotation look like on opening day?
  2. So, what are the rumblings in the Cubs Camp going into the Winter Meetings?
  3. This trade is not happening. There is not Cubs source who would ever, ever e-mail or utter such a thing. Believe what you will. Thanks Bruce. Even if it was not the answer I was looking for. When it comes to the Cubs, you are the one that we all believe. Thanks again.
  4. What do you think Bruce?
  5. I sure hope that "source" is right. I think thats a fair deal for Manny.
  6. If Manny is a Cubs, surely Murton won't be. If this were a perfect world, as Vance suggested keep Murton in LF and move Manny to RF. Then you could trade Jones for anything.
  7. Manny Aram DLee Sori Barrett Murt Wow, That line-up is sick sick sick.
  8. I wish I were reading the Cubs on that list of involved team... Do you think Jim will slide in there and make an offer?
  9. Peter Gammons is saying a prime reliever and 2 stud prospects. I know, its Peter Gammons. But still.........
  10. The signings for pitchers seem to be slow. My guess is that teams aren't as eager to throw out five and six year deals to pitchers and so the signings aren't happening as fast as they did for hitters. My guess is things won't heat up again until the winter meetings. Then let the fun begin.
  11. Now, according to BenMaller.com, the Sox could trade Manny for relievers and bench help. Jump on it Jim.
  12. IMO the Cubs should at least make an offer to Boston. If they land Manny, and he is more trouble than he is worth, then he could be traded at the deadline. Very risky I know, but why not try?
  13. The question is, what would it take to get Manny. I have heard anything from prospects to BP help, to a SP. Maybe a combo of all 3. Who knows.
  14. DING DING DING WE HAVE A WINNER
  15. There is way too much Manny talk for the Cubs to not even sniff it.
  16. Is he the one that hit the line drive off of Priors elbow?
  17. IMO the STARTING point for Zito would be 5/80.
  18. But, are the Cubs even in negotiations with Schmidt?
  19. Bruce, anything on the Schmidt front?
  20. Who woulda thunk it? The Cubs acting like a big Market team. :-k
  21. Wow. Just wow. The Cubs really do want to win.
  22. Excellant, excellant post. =D> Like I said about 3 or 4 pages ago, the early signing will put some teams behind the 8 ball. When Lee, Drew and Lugo sign, the FA pool is about dry. Hendry could be in a great position to wheel and deal on HIS terms.
  23. I think the most positive aspect of the signing is the timing. With the exception of Lee, Drew and a few others, the FA talent drops off dramatically. With this signing so early, if Lee and Drew can sign somewhere soon, it could put some teams behind the 8 ball. Needing to improve, they may go for a trade that they wouln't normally do. I think this is where Hendry will wheel and deal. I like our position as we stand.
