  1. I say Colts in the Dome.
  2. FYI Rob Neyer is doing a live chat at ESPN and the question on Arod was asked....He thinks the Cubs get him. Until he signs some where, this will be torture.
  3. Just a thought...... 2 years 60MM 1. It would only hamsting the team for 2 years (The same amount of years left on Lou's contract.) 2. It would put Arod that much closer to the HR record. After the 2 years he could sign the big contract that Boras wants. GMs would see the $ coming in for the "HR chase." 3. Arod could use his time in Chicago to help refurbish his reputation, not to mention he could become "The Golden Boy of Baseball" if he could lead the Cubs to a WS title. I know, its a stretch, but there has to be a good reason that he left that much money on the table in NY. A lot of things that I am reading suggests that Arod really wants to play for Lou again. True or untrue I really have no idea. Only Alex knows.
  4. I called it. What the hell is wrong with him? I see nothing wrong with Hendry saying good things about an employee. I'm sure if the right players come up he'll entertain the idea of a move and make it if he thinks it'll make the team better. IMO, Hendry's more concerned about CF and RF and filling those holes. Or, he could do what most GM's do and say "We're always looking to improve". True but if the question is about Theriot then he has to answer in a positive way regarding the subject. I understand why you don't like the quote but I wouldn't really read too much into it. I look at it as Hendry keeping a players value up instead of talking him down. Is it possible Hendry thinks Theriot is an everyday SS, yes. Do I have faith that Hendry will do the right moves to Make this team better, about 25%...yes. I think he painted himself into a corner with all the deals from the 2006 off season and if he is going to improve this team he's going to have to really get the most bang for the buck which is something I don't really have a lot of faith in, much like you. I'm hoping that Lou will help him scope out the right type of players just as Baker did with the wrong ones even though Baker did say he had nothing to do with some of the pickups that Hendry made. They reeked of Baker. "Sammy Sosa is our starting Right Fielder." Ring a bell?
  5. I think this is all posturing by the Cubs and Hendry. Jimbo always holds his cards close to the vest. There is no doubt in my mind that Lou wants to get Arod in the worst way. There is no way in the world the Cubs would, or even should pony up the cash that Arod wants, but don't fool yourself, I think the Cubs will get permission from the higher-ups to at the very least, offer Arod a fair deal. If Arod is all about the money....then the Cubs are done. However, if Lou could talk to him face to face.......you just never know. If there was only a way to get rid of Boras.......
  6. I am hoping this is about his comfort level and not about money. IMO if it was about money, he would still be a Yankee. I know Boras is still his agent, but remember, the agent works for the client, not the other way around. Whatever Arod wants, he will get. I think Arod is tired of being the scapegoat, the bad guy who makes all the money, all the negativity that comes with the HUGE contract. Dont get me wrong, he will make a lot of money, but my hope is that he will want to reunite with Sweet Lou in Chi-Town and break the curse.
  7. Cuban was on Mike And Mike today. Can anyone recap? Was there any Cubs questions or just about the Mavs and dancing?
  8. So, when Perry gets fired, who's the new hitting coach?
  9. How about power hitters that hit for power!
  10. What realistic moves can the Cubs make to improve this squad for '08? Mods, if you think this should be in transactions, then go ahead and move it. I wasn't exactly sure where to put it. This team has some question marks. 1. Will Floyd be back? 2. Will Prior return to '03 form and be a starter? 3. What kind of payroll will the new owner allow the Cubs to have? 4. Will the sale of the Cubs be completed in time for them to be involved in free agent signings? 5. Will Dempster be the closer? 6. Does Woody re-sign? 7. What trades can the Cubs realistically explore? 8. Do the Cubs have a realistic shot at Arod? A lot will no doubt depend on #'s 3 and 4, but I am really curious as to what everyone else thinks.
  11. I really want to see Soto in the line-up today.
  12. Note to Z: Throw STRIKES and miss bats!!! Try not to have a pitch count of 55 thru 2 in. 1 more thing, Cubs please start scoring some runs. Scoring is fun, try it.
  13. Lets go Astros. Would love to see about 4 more runs.
  14. Here we go again. 23 pitches and only 2 outs in the 1st.
  15. 41 pitches thru 4 innings, thats a nice change. =D>
  16. I'm always amused when fans think that the easy solution to a batters problem is to "move closer to the plate." Heheh...in this case......4 or 5 inches! I still think it would be a great idea for all fans to be required to spend 20 minutes in a 90 MPH batting cage. Just to get a little perspective. Been there done that. Thanks though. As I said, it is just my opinion.
  17. IMO he needs to move closer to the plate maybe 4 or 5 inches. Every AB he reminds me of Sammy in 04. They keep pitching him away away away.
  18. 64 pitches thru 3 innings  3 games in a row the starters have stunk.
  19. This game feels like we should be down 4 or 5 to 0.
