  1. I've heard he has very good plate discipline for his age. Hit tool (contact) still has questions....and we know about the power. The only numbers i've ever seen on him was for the Cuban national team, maybe 2 years ago? I'm fairly certain his numbers were along the lines of .300/.500/.500. http://baseballprospectnation.com/2012/02/14/scouting-report-jorge-soler-of/ Those current grades almost make him a useful major leaguer right now. One thing I haven't got a sense of is who his best-case MLB comps are. I read Vlad on a board but I feel like his hit and arm would have to improve significantly for that to happen...

  3. A friend of mine blew a .44 at the hospital. Yeah, I know.
  4. Nothing better than hitting the hole with a big fat fullback in your way.
  5. Haha Rosenbloom's new take is that someone in the FO "got" to Sveum to prevent Castro's benching.
  6. A 16 year vet in the NBA has already made all the money he wants. I think he'll just sign with the team that wants him and has the best shot at a championship. That's really not how it works.
  7. All time favorite tumblr blog. #curtains
  8. "Loss leader" would've been a more efficient post :D
  9. ESPN had a "if you could start your team with one guy who would it be?" mock draft today. Starlin went 9th (picked by Aaron Boone). In the accompanying chat, Kevin Goldstein had this to say: I agree with everything Aaron says about Castro offensively. Defense, not so much. I predict he'll be a third baseman during the last half of this ten year period, and the stolen bases will dwindle. I thought that was interesting given the variety of opinions on his defensive development.
  10. Not providing the link, as is my policy:

  12. How did that happen? Gamecast just said "infield single"
  13. AH TELL YOO WHAT
  14. Pretty sure it was mostly due to Rizzo... Pretty sure he was being sarcastic/joking. Sorry, I had my WSR filter on.

  16. It wouldn't be the offseason without one of these quotes.
  17. Microsensors could add so much value to baseball and other sports. It would seriously change the way we watch. For example, it's sad the NFL is at the front lines of progress with its challenge rules, yet the spotting of a ball is essentially arbitrary and measured literally to the inch.
  18. That was for Super Two status. http://rotoauthority.blogs.com/.a/6a00d834515b9a69e20163022d8563970d-580wi Are there other Super Two implications outside of arbitration eligibility? If not, I don't really see the Cubs being overly concerned.
  19. Add another annoying Hawkism to the list: the way he pronounces days of the week. .. Mondee, Tuesdee, Wensdee...
  20. Yes. The reason Maddux has his number retired by the Cubs is because Fergie wore that number too and given the fact that Maddux was one of the top 10 pitchers ever and had recently played for the Cubs it would have been weird to retire Fergies number and not acknowledge Maddux as well. At least that's my theory. yes.
