  1. So Brett from BN seemed to take us finishing in second as this was a serious bid. http://www.bleachernation.com/2012/07/05/the-cubs-were-the-runners-up-for-yu-darvish/ I'm saying it's a token bid considering it was around 15 million; he says it wasn't because we were tops in the second tier and that nobody expected him to get around Dice-K's number because he might decide not to sign if a team did that. While I vaguely remember a rumor about that, I think it was well-expected that he would get around Dice-K's s posting fee or more, even when the bidding was over and we were waiting. I mean, if you told us the 15 million number around that time I think we would all say that would be a token bid. I think we knew it would take around Dice-K posting bid money to win, and that's exactly what it did take. Thoughts on whether or not you think it was a token bid or serious, if you had to pick one or the other? PS - not trying to discredit Brett or anything, the site is awesome. Just playing devil's advocate since he made it seem like the answer was obvious, and I thought it was pretty obvious that it was the exact opposite.
  2. It's been too long since Baez had a " I do whatever the **** I want" kind of game :x

  4. ESPN boxscore has it as "right lat" injury.
  5. A couple of the usual names frmo Law's article: http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/blog/_/name/mlb_draft/id/8123592/scouting-ryne-stanek-kris-bryant-other-usa-baseball-draft-prospects-mlb-draft
  6. I believe he is pronouncing it right. I've been saying "Hi Mare" for awhile, but i'm pretty sure I read on here that it's the way the PBP guy is saying it.
  7. Candelario HR (righty), HR (lefty) and single. All behind the mound view. http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?content_id=22469215 http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?content_id=22511243 http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?content_id=22713841 Swing looks great.
  8. Baez triple and SB. Triple seemed wind aided or something, but nice to see a normal view of him hitting. http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?content_id=22713615 http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?content_id=22683425
  9. He was 6-9 with a 4.20 ERA when he was dealt. It was the year before he was awesome (in the first half at least), but even in that year his ERA was around 4 after the break if I remember right.
  10. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-cubs-pursuing-cuban-outfield-prospect-puig-20120627,0,7738476.story With so little information available on this guy, i'm not jumping to any conclusions based on the brief scouting reports from Goldstein/Badler who pretty much have to put something out there. Not to mention majority of that info is going to be from like 2 years ago.
  11. I think Rizzo deserves his name in the parenthesis over Wells.
  12. Nick Castellanos' AA line so far is .308/.294/.523. That confuses me.
  13. Thanks for taking the time to divide it into paragraphs.
  14. Yeah, the article said McNeil was "around slot" if I remember right. Or something to that degree.
  15. Sczcur 2/4 with 2 BB's and a SB in the regularly scheduled game. He's close to having as many walks as strikeouts. Amaya continues to tear it up for Boise. Candelario 1/4.
  16. Vitters bomb: http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?content_id=22588045
  17. Thoughts on a Dempster deal with Lavarnway coming back?
  18. Szczur 1/2 with a BB, K, and SB. Whitenack through 4 scoreless with 2 K's and no walks.
  19. Back by popular demand, the Peoria Chiefs ladies and gentleman.
  20. I just asked him.... Surprised me a tiny bit. I expected Soler, but wasn't sure it was by a wide margin. Oh well, good for us.
  21. I say we go for the killshot and blow our IFA budget on Gustavo Cabrera.
  22. Speaking of him, I posted it in the "Cubs prospects in the news," but Badler said Candelario would have been a first-rounder this past draft.
  23. Badler: http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/prospects/2012/06/cubs-jeimer-candelario-hits-first-home-run-in-boise/
  24. Lake is 4/4 with a double and a SB, he's now up to .320 on the year and a .856 OPS. Edit: he's also playing 3b. I haven't followed him position wise (assumed he was still at short) but has he gotten many reps over there this year?
  25. http://www.perfectgame.org/articles/View.aspx?article=7239 New article with video on Meadows.
