  1. Then I vote for Morandini... time for the dandy little glove man to return, mullet and all I've actually went to a lesson by Morandini, up here in NW Indiana. It was about a year ago, I don't know if he still does individual lessons.
  2. why Howery, he didn't do a bad job a bit over-used in the last month along with the rest of the pen. I'd rather trade Eyre. But you have to give up quality to get quality. A middle reliever should never stand in the way of a deal to get a star like ARod. You can't just include guys you want to get rid of. This is it. I'm giving the Yanks their choice of pitchers not named Zambrano. I'm guessing the starter they want most is Prior, and the reliever they want most is Howry. Add one or two other lesser names for good measure, and call it a deal. Of course, take any Arod rumors with a grain of salt, but I ran across this today. http://www.gothambaseball.com/news/1161579748.php According to the so called "source", Prior would be the main player in the deal, though I just can't see it happening.
  3. Maybe Jimbo wants Iwamura to fill in at another position... Interesting, all positions that we could be looking to upgrade. Sign me up on his bandwagon.
  4. Article also mentions Carl Crawford. Interesting Comments by Lou supposedly with the trib saying Kind of sounds anti-Soriano for center, though he does go on saying how athleticism is important in center.
  5. Brenly has actually acknowledged OBP and pitcher abuse during his tenure. Lou has bemoaned OBP and said that baseball needs more "thinkers". If Piniella brings Chambliss and McLaren with him, this might be a good move for the offense. From what i've heard out of Lou, he doesn't bemoan OBP at all. He's been mentioning it alot lately.
  6. I don't know that they have a hard time making it, rather than there are just not that many 6'10 pitchers. I look at it this way, would you rather have a 6'1 guy putting all that pressure on his arm, or a 6'10 guy? There may be a few flaws with that statement, but i'd rather him be tall than short.
  7. Per SI.com Nice find, thanks.
  8. I know this was mentioned awhile ago, but ESPN just confirmed that Brackman will not be playing basketball this year to focus on baseball.
  9. Heh, Channel 2 or 7 News(not sure which), just reported the Cubs will interview Bochy.
  10. Trib has it on their site as well. They had another article where Joe was interviewed by phone and he said some pretty nice things about the Cubs.
  11. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-0610010216oct01,1,3909168.column?page=2&coll=cs-cubs-headlines The Francona thing was from the NY Daily News I think...(nonetheless, an actual paper).
  12. And some other stuff worth mentioning, And i'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but this is from an NY paper...
  13. Only in Chicago will you get every single fan in the stadium up screaming at the top of their lungs, even though we're fighting to stay out of last place in the NL...
  14. No offense, but if Rosenthal said "top positional player, like Carl Crawford or Jeff Francoer" how do you translate that to an offer of Pie and a pitching prospect? You shouls ammend it to say hopefully Hendry will offer Pie and a pitching prospect so Flordia can laugh at us. If they are looking for players like Crawford or Francoer for Willis, that means they are looking for young players with established success in the majors in an exchange for Willis. The Cubs might could package Murton for him, but I doubt Murton has that much value. Well, you know the natural homer in me wants us to go after him, so I thought if they they're looking at a toolsy CF'er like Crawford, maybe we could assemble a package involving a player who projects to be similar to Crawford who will be on a very small contract for a long time. I naturally assumed they'd be interested in a pitching prospect since they are actually trading their main pitcher, so it certainly couldn't hurt. I'm not saying the Marlins would do this, but if a pitcher (who albeit is a little overrated, but still very good) like Dontrelle is available, we better at least give them a call and see how high they are on certain players of ours, rather than sit on our ass.
  15. Watching Fox baseball they had a segment called "inside pitch" with Rosenthal, and he mentioned the Marlins will entertain trading D-Train this offseason if they can get a top positional player, like Carl Crawford or Jeff Francour. If they do indeed shop him, hopefully we at least offer Pie and a decent pitching prospect. I've got to admit though, a deal revolving around Carl Crawford should be intriguing to Florida if they do indeed want to trade Willis.
  16. Pitt will probably lose tonight. Damnit Bynum and Blanco.
  17. Even if it would only take Hill, do we really want to have to add another SP in the offseason? That said, i'd still be really tempted, and probably would anyways :D
  18. I come here and read through the gamethread and can't even found out who won. Obviously it's football season... :D
  19. Well to be fair, the guys who writes BleedCubbyBlue and Will Carrol both said they think he will be back and that a contract is already in place.
  20. Thanks for that. As long as we are in the top 3, i'll be happy. Alot of things can change from now to then, but one of Price, Weiters, or Brackman sounds good to me.
