  1. Time to bring out the believe bracelets once again...
  2. Don't want to jinx anything, but the scoreboard is being very kind to us this evening. And as I say this, Boston ties it up against KC.
  3. For those who asked about Ramirez: Ramirez had runners on 2nd and 3rd I believe and grounded to third, third baseman bobbled, got it back, threw him out (Aramis did seem to be hustling though :D ). Right after went over the base he threw his helmet real hard at the ground, and the ump (who had his back turned to Ramirez), must have heard it and immediately turned around and ejected him.
  4. Cubs doing their part, TB will most likely lose down 6-0 late, and KC gives us a glimmer of hope up 1-0 still relatively early.
  5. We can overtake the 3 spot on the draft boards if we lose. At this point, we should just hope for good performances out of the young guys, but in a losing effort. Having the worst record in the NL would hopefully make Jimbo realize he's got a lot of work to do and not to half ass it this offseason.
  6. Cubbies can overtake the 3 spot tonight with a L. KC and TB are also in action.
  7. I'm not sure where it was mentioned, but that' pretty intruiging to me. Sign someone like Molina, draft someone like Weiters, and you're looking at very nice scenario.
  8. I'm not too familiar on Price (just know the basics of what was said about him in this thread), but does he project to be an instant contributor type of guy? ( At first glance, he does, but i've heard control mentioned as an issue in the past so i'm unsure if he's improved it since). Possible end of 07 call up kind of guy? One more thing, as far as Weitters (sp?), the catcher, does he project as more of a power hitter or a line drive hitter?
  9. Just wanted to say thanks to you guys for doing this. There's alot more people that read these game threads than you think, I always check it everyday to glance at what our prospects did. Good Job!
  10. Its easy. 1) Defense is not our problem. 2) Maddux's contract was up after this year, so his millions come off the book, we could spend it somewhere else. 3) Izturis's contract is in the range of $4-5.5 million for the next two years for production (both defense and offense) that is the same as Cedeno's who would do it at a fraction the cost. edit: 4) we could have had one of Los Angeles's better prospects (who were cheap and have a WHOLE LOT more upside then Izturis) insted by most accounts. How the hell do we know that we could have had one of LAs better prospects? Just because somethings been reported doesen't make it the truth. Hednry's said twice already that the package they were leaning toward taking was for "top notch" prospects (plural), and then he said once Izturis was made available he jumped on the opportunity to land a two-time gold glove winner. Said it twice, in the press conference and with Len and Bob. We don't know for sure who the prospects were, but if they were "top notch", I would have guessed one of them would have been someone we've discussed before (or Will Carrol).
  11. a team in contention doesn't need inning eaters. that's about the lamest attribute a guy can bring any team, actually. Resting the pen? The season isn't getting any younger...
  12. and driving in 4 runs. Grand slam? 4 solo's.
  13. Bell just checked out of his game I think.
  14. Couple of people are telling me that Milwaukee will aquire a middle infielder and a veteran starting pitcher within the night or by tommorrow. Supposedly Melvin said this in a radio interview not long ago also. The closest thing to a link I can find is this http://www.forums.mlb.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=ml-brewers&msg=16393.1&ctx=0, but someone I know said that the Brewers announcers also mentioned this before the game (i'm not sure if it is radio or tv).FWIW Daron and Bill are the announcers names. Some were speculating it would be Maddux, though i'm not sure why they would aquire him after trading C-Lee, unless they think they really got the good end of that trade. Just throwing out what i'm hearing. Edit: Someone just confirmed this on a Milwaukee Bucks board too, here's the link.http://www.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=551408&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 I doubt it's for Maddux though, but you never know. Another Edit: The announcer just said the middle infielder they are close to aquiring is David Bell from Philly.

  16. Sorry, didn't see it. Mods feel free to lock her up.
  17. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2485365 mmm...Classy.
  18. Dunn likes him. "He's got good stuff," said left fielder Adam Dunn, who hit his 20th homer of the season in the eighth inning off Scott Eyre. "He's one of the best I've faced in a while."
  19. Guzman hitting 99 and 96 on the strikeout. Healthy at last?? :D
  20. Heads Up: Bruce will be on ESPN1000 at 4:20 for those couple of people who are interested in this
  21. Alright, Just heard it on the Update, Cubs HAVE contacted the Orioles per Bruce Levine, listen to ESPN 1000 (baseball 365 is the show) they will continue talking about it and i am pretty sure they said bruce might be back on.
  22. Not sure if this has been posted, didn't want to start a new thread. 1. Bruce Miles story about Tejada and us. http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/beatwriters.asp?column=miles&id=130468 2. Bunch of people have said ( on ITI etc, I didnt hear it myself), that Bruce Levine reported Cubs have been in discussions with them abour Miggy ( No deals have been proposed but wanted to know what it would take), and that they were talking about Tejada for a while on espn1000 (pretty sure it was around 10 AM this morning) Also, Levine said (the obvious), Rich Hill would almost certainly have to go.
