  1. +1 ! our fallen comrade is still alive after all
  2. i remember when Yuniesky was untouchable nevertheless, Moore's quite possibly worse than Baird was, if that's possible
  3. sarge jr was on steroids, Delucci likely was too and Andruw Jones is hitting better on the road thus far
  4. huh? May 1 through last night, he was playing at a 50 HR pace. at any rate, great hitters like Kinsler, Youkilis, Vic Martinez have had a really rough go of it during that timeframe and you wouldn't think much of it. and your main culprit for Jones' slump is .205 BABIP.
  5. Sandoval's just 22 and slugging .560- who exactly is complaining about his approach?
  6. i love Sandoval like no other, but he's a very poor defensive player and Zimmerman's GG caliber. Zimm's the right pick.
  7. Pahlsson to Columbus 3/$7.95M
  8. Has to be a Bowman related move. I don't see the point. Hopefully he's not making anything. 2 years 2.4m
  9. he's just a guy. i've never thought much of him. the wings are better off with Leino & Helm playing.
  10. nobody cares about those scrubs, lets all talk about freaking Hossa just pulled a 12 year, $62.4m deal for Chi and that Craig Anderson for 2/3.6 is an amazing coup for the Avs
  11. that matt walker deal is more horrendous edit: Hossa to the Hawks?!?!??
  12. homeruns and heartbeats? that's gotta be the most boring, pointless story i've heard in awhile
  13. i'll do this discussion a favor and ignore that first paragraph of nonsense. you seem to be in agreement with me here. you're admitting if you pitch badly but get otherworldly lucky your success probably won't last very long. similarly, if guys keep hitting moonshots a few inches foul or blasting 400 ft opposite field flyouts, these guys should start finding the bleachers/avoid gloves when luck evens out.
  14. thats kind of a dumb ass comment i'm not ready to bury guys because guys rip a pitch opposite field 395 feet instead of the requisite 400 feet it takes to go over the wall. the fact of the matter is they played well enough to win but didn't catch the breaks. not sure why people are focusing solely on the result and extrapolating from that.
  15. i like that in Hanson's last 3 starts, he's got a 1.06 era and 1.76 whip
  16. Not terrible, no. But not good. Gave up two homers in a pitcher's park (what it that, 13 now this year?) and walked, what, four guys? He's clearly not even close to the pitcher he was last year. Fortunately, Lilly has been great this year otherwise who knows how far back the Cubs would be right now. i think comerica park is a lot more hitter friendly now than it used to be. that's true, but it doesn't matter much when both HRs traveled > 400 ft
  17. i don't think they played all that bad last night. Bradley narrowly missed a 3-R HR foul, Hoffpauir had a bases clearing double go just foul, and Fox nearly had two opposite field HRs. that's just bad fortune.
  18. going to the game tonight, i'm hoping it drags and we can see the Detroit fireworks in the background of CoPa
  19. this. the blame lies sorely on Boras' shoulders, and Magglio's own greed that he's not playing baseball right now. take a longer contract for lesser annual money guaranteed and you're not in this situation.
  20. i think we're all going to feel nauseated when we see what the Indians are able to get for him in a couple weeks
  21. 2002 scouting report: COMMENT: Good athletic frame. Well-toned and strong. Fair bat speed, occasional power. Long, strong stride; average speed to 1B. Adequate under way. Solid, average, playable arm. Adequate range. Skills for corner outfielder. Plays hard. i love that draft. Bullington, Gruler, Loewen, Everts picked before a slew of all star players and real solid starters (francoeur notwithstanding)
  22. Jeremy Papelbon?
