  2. chicago locals, be sure to do whatever you possibly can to avoid ambulance rides
  3. hendry's biggest sin is that there were fantastic bargains to be had in the offseason in positions of need and he blew something like $10m on Miles, Heilman and Gregg alone
  4. oh my goodness trade Ibanez yesterday
  5. i'm not sure i can recall a single skillful normal goal all series so far from either team. they've all just been lucky bounces or prayers all these guys wouldn't make again if they had 100 chances.
  6. i don't think Gamel's played more than like 15 innings of 3B this year
  7. Howard had a much better ISO in the minors than Reimold, i'm not sure i'd expect more than 30 HR as his upside

  9. i'd probably say that charging somebody late fees for videos is the worst thing a person could ever do
  10. what Halladay's doing is almost as impressive: 7.0 K/BB and 2.34 GB/FB, both 2nd in the league Lincecum's also not far behind Greinke in FIP, 1.75 compared to 1.52 Verlander's striking out 12.08 hitters/ 9 innings, over a full batter better than Harden's ridiculous 11.01 k/9 last year. there have been some terrific pitching performances thus far, to be sure
  11. cats: 5x5 + K, obp, slg and pitcher losses who's the better long-term buy?
  12. scripted.
  13. i don't know about untouchable, his career progression has been disappointing. he's good a #3 at this point, not the ace like it looked like he'd become. at any rate, the Giants could get a lot better return from the Brewers than Cantu or Uggla
  14. WHAT? Now I am about the biggest pro-LeBron, MJ fan boy there is, but this is stupid. In terms of basketball polish and translating talent to effectiveness or as you put it, "individual skill," on the court, Jordan is still ahead of LeBron. The whole point of the LeBron-MJ debate boils down to the fact that LeBron is more physically gifted than Jordan and if he can continue to develop skill, maybe he can compete with Jordan. seriously, in terms of "translating talent to effectiveness", Lebron's not nearly the most "skillful" player in the game; i'd think of a guy like Shane Battier or Brandon Roy, even Kobe before him it's arguing semantics, but that's a pretty bad description
  15. some guys who obviously aren't in the top 5, but can be franchise players Elvis Andrus - holding your own offensively in the AL at age 20 is a great indicator of talent, and his glove is fantastic. could have a Rollins-type career. Jay Bruce - the bat's obviously good, but he also might already be best fielding RF in the game Madison Bumgarner & Tommy Hanson - Cy Young upside Clay Buchholz - i actually like him more than Price Matt LaPorta & Justin Smoak - can't miss impact bats and it's crazy how few top fives listed Mauer
  16. The playoffs are a crapshoot, you have admitted this. You cannot build a team to specifically win a crapshoot. You build the best team you can (97 wins), you prepare as best you can and then you take your chances. That's true, but it's a copout for this team. Don't act like they were just unlucky the last 2 seasons. They choked. They crapped their pants the second the postseason started. That's not Hendry's fault though. Hendry is the last person I'd blame for the playoffs. I blame the players and Lou. choking- check pants crapping- check now, say something about testicles quick and we've got all bases covered
  17. Kobe's flops make me cringe. just embarrassing
  18. dude Mojo can predict the future
  19. oh, well i guess if we somehow cherry pick all the at bats in his career in which he didn't register a hit, he has been kinda lousy
  20. Getting owned by the chief division rival which spent $55 million less than you tends to elecit these reactions. We just don't have good mental makeup this team just isn't built to win in late-May when the lights shine sort of bright
  21. it's .890 (.292/.390/.500) over the last five seasons. his age 22 suckitude means diddly poo; why you choose to continually embarrass yourself by citing career numbers is puzzling. Uhh, maybe it has something to do with the fact that he's played to those career numbers for many of the last several years. As in 2004, 2005, 2006, and part of 2007. Saying he's been an .890 OPS guy for the last 5 seasons is pretty ridiculous. He's been a 1.000 OPS hitter for the last 600 at-bats (before this season) spread out over the least 2 season and then played to his career totals the previous 3 seasons. for the better part of the last 5 years, he's played to his career totals. i just keep reading the phrase played to his career totals, whatever the hell that even means wait facts are ridiculous?
  22. the complaints were about his hitting, not health; try and keep up when he plays, he's not a run-of-the-mill RF. that's a ludicrous stance.
  23. that's a much better OPS than the last 5 years of Abreu, Ibanez btw
