    the Rangers made Michael Young switch positions twice to make room for unproven young guys and he was sort of the face of the franchise it wasn't a real big deal, and shouldn't be a big deal for Castro to move to 2nd if need be

    i was sort of interested in Beltre given the year he's having, until i realized/noticed he's hit .334/.382/.598 his two contract years and .266/.317/.442 the rest of his career this is very good news

    looking back at the preseason projections, pecota was the most optimistic at 273/.323/.383 (.316 wOBA) and they've fallen quite short of his actual .328 wOBA thus far it's really hard to find any fault with the way he's played to this point

    my guess would be that they have always realized what a huge hindrance his salary will continue to be when they Seabrook, Brouwer, etc. start getting raises too, but that now he could probably be somewhat adequately replaced in-house by a very similar player in Vishnevskiy

    he's got one of the best arms in the game, 2B would be a tremendous waste of his talent. i think he could be consistently near +10 in RF

    wow, i just noticed the Giants traded Francisco Liriano and Joe Nathan for A.J. Pierzynski. that turned out to be a really solid deal for them. and the Giants got a really poor return on Pierzynski when they let him walk a year later.
