  1. before that AB, Castro was up to .322 OBP; not great, but he'd been in the .290s just a few days ago
  2. haha, awesome for those not watching: Edwin kind of incidentally kicks the ball up to himself, Len calls it "rezorceful"
  3. Miles says it's a hit and an error. well then, nevermind!
  4. that Soriano GB should have been a base hit and an error they did that to Castro a couple weeks ago, he ranged several steps to the right of 2B and bobbled the ball in the transition and they gave him an error; really irritating

  10. Cubs Get A Steal With Anthony Rizzo Again http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/cubs-get-a-steal-with-anthony-rizzo-again/
  11. yeah, i was actually thinking Soler might be top-20 by next year's release with Baez dropping out of the top-50
  12. i guess this didn't work http://media.zenfs.com/en/blogs/sptusncaabexperts/A9ZLMpYCAAMT_PF.jpg
  13. Cubs starters had a 4.52 ERA last season with a 4.36 FIP (.288 babip) Cubs starters have a 3.40 ERA this season with a 3.72 FIP (.253 babip) the babip is the big thing; superior defense doesn't seem to account for it though (+30 team UZR last year vs. -8 this year) it's worth noting we have a real strong IFFB% (12.7% vs. 7.6% last year), which isn't properly accounted for by standard FIP
  14. Wood now has the 3rd-best pitchers bWAR (2.2) in MLB
  15. worst CFs in the past calendar year: http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=cf&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=450&type=3&season=2013&month=10&season1=2013&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0
  16. Ryan Braun available for pitching, preferably exempt
