  1. @Bry_Mac Reminder:
  2. http://i.imgur.com/9Zw653S.png not sure if good things or bad things
  3. hahaha awesome
  4. maybe he'll be a defensive replacement at 3B, so they can have that fringe average glove out there
  5. i was listening to a podcast or maybe just the radio? a little while ago and they were basically saying MSU's messed up their next few seasons fooling around with Chicago (J Parker, C Alexander), saying area kids just want to get paid, either directly (UK) or indirectly (KU, Duke?) and UM has been better served abandoning that avenue altogether since dabbling with Patrick Beverley forever ago lol, that's such sour grapes. Every fan base does it when they don't get the kids they want. Oddly enough, no one ever can produce any actual evidence. And the idea that any school is "directly" paying anyone is lunacy. I don't deny that there's all sorts of dirty stuff happening everywhere, in every program. But no program is dumb enough to "directly" pay a player. UK has to pay kids least of all. Nothing's cooler than going to Kentucky. And ever since LeBron and co banded together in Miami, forming dream teams is pretty popular too. to be perfectly honest, i wasn't entirely sure what that meant since the guy only briefly mentioned it off-the-cuff; i had mostly just assumed it meant screwing around for a year at a high-profile program and jumping ship it wouldn't be sour grapes though, this was coming from a UM perspective crowing about MSU's uninspiring near-future

  7. any candidates?
  8. Gray's got the same ETA as Bryant; he'll be in the bigs soon and carry the same injury risk as every other pitcher who hasn't been significantly injured yet
  9. this line of thought still basically amounts to "a bird in the hand is worth one in the bush"
  10. you make this sound so much easier than it probably is, in practice; you have to assume other teams are going to fall in love with our minor leaguers we can't actually put into MLB situations to prove their worth so in the future, after Bryant is demolishing AAA, we can package him with a couple other really interesting guys, for just a couple years of an established starter, like KC did with Myers it's easy to assume there are other less dramatic paths we could take (Washington/Fister, Rockies/Anderson), but if it were that simple, we'd have just done this already to address our current glaring pitching need
  11. Sure I can. Not an exact match here, but assuming Turner winds up the top bat in the draft, are you taking him or Rodon, if both are there? I'd consider that a *really* tough call. I hate taking pitchers this high that much. unfortunately our divisional opponents have no qualms about it, and we'll have the fun task of dealing with Gerrit Cole, Michael Wacha, Jameson Taillon, Homer Bailey, Shelby Miller, Robert Stephenson, etc. for a very long time
  12. the annoyingly overlooked part of this equation is we're forcing guys down the defensive spectrum to accommodate each other, thereby immediately destroying part of their value Bryant likely won't fit in with Alcantara & Baez -or- Olt/Villanueva/Candelario, so he's likely already set for corner OF, making him a whole lot less interesting; it's possibility of Troy Glaus (exciting) vs. Pat Burrell (not so exciting) sadly that's not a situation we'll have to worry about with pitchers for a seemingly very long time
  13. we've been so obsessed over minimizing risk on pitchers, that we'll be probably opening camp next year with Edwin Jackson as our best starter, all while guys like Lucas Giolito and Jon Gray are set to dominate (to say nothing of FA efforts)
  14. his crystal ball's 30/30 UK maybe he'll be like Rashad Vaughn and shock the world though
  15. no, that policy already cost us Jon Gray
  16. can we sticky this again? feel free to delete this post afterward
  17. it seems weird to me that Almora bats & throws right-handed, but writes lefty
  18. i didn't see this posted, but BA did a Best Tools for HSers List which i found informative: http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/early-draft-preview-high-school-best-tools/ Gettys has to have freakish upside defensively, if these are remotely accurate
  19. would someone just run over Tom Izzo already? http://mgoblog.com/sites/mgoblog.com/files/images/8f53c752ae72_123AB/12740889643_ac3fc196dd_o1_thumb.gif
  20. KC drafted Keith Law's #10 overall prospect in that spot, i'm sure they're still probably ok with their choice
