  1. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/page/franchise150605/espn-mlb-franchise-player-draft i'm such a terrible sucker for these Moncada 16th is outrageous btw
  2. last month has seen us with the worst bullpen xFIP in baseball, and no other bullpen has controlled the strike zone worse http://www.flexiblesystems.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/iStock_000020080991_ExtraSmall.jpg
  3. his last month stats are grotesque, but if you look at just the past two weeks i guess he's had about as dominant a 4+ innings as you can have with 3.86 K/9 if he can keep up that 0 HR/9 and .071 BABIP up long-term, he'll probably even be useful!
  4. it was more than 10 years ago we traded Latroy Hawkins for Aardsma and Jerome Williams kind of amazing all three are still in the game
  5. those two are impossibly naive
  6. http://cdn.playbuzz.com/cdn/e06de57e-d148-4024-9520-28bfd6fed1d5/b037b3ef-8744-48fd-a473-4ac8e00f8359.gif
  7. can you guess the AAA SS? .266/.324/.378 in 88 G, 7 HR & 11 SB, 33 BB & 65 K through 402 PA (age 20 & 21) .335/.386/.439 in 70 G, 4 HR & 23 SB, 26 BB & 33 K through 311 PA (age 20 & 21) [spoil]1st is Francisco Lindor, reputed top 10 prospect in the game...2nd is Ketel Marte, afterthought[/spoil]
  8. [source] (Neyer alert)
  9. quality of bullpen is basically the entire difference: 3.9 RA9-WAR & 3.30 WPA for them, 0.5 & -0.69 for us the two teams are hardly distinguishable beyond that (7.1 hitter WAR for both, 4.4 & 4.3 starter RA9-WAR)
  10. you actually could craft an argument with Tigers system, it's just complete utter trash...they'd maybe hold onto Ziomek and possibly Farmer in talks? Derek Hill and Moya might have nice tools but they simply just can't hit Brewers you can't do this with; Arcia, Coulter, Lopez, Medeiros beat him out in all likelihood it's probably fair to wonder if he's in our top 10: Schwarbs McKinney Torres Underwood Almora Carl Sjunior Eloy Pierce Johnson Black Tseng Villanueva??
  11. but for just half the salary restraints Andrew Miller shackles your team with, you can have one Jason Motte!
  12. i guess opting for Correa & McCullers (& Ruiz) over Buxton might actually work out ok, huh
  13. it's like in Vanilla Sky when Tom Cruise gets in the car with crazy Cameron Diaz and you start yelling at the screen, this isn't gonna end well... spoiler alert btw
  14. might actually be more a vote of confidence for Szczur than anything; his Iowa numbers are better than the other options still doesn't explain stupid Mike Baxter wasting a spot
  15. pretty much, he went 84% FBs against us and we put up 5 runs in 6 IP against him i wish every pitcher would try that against our lineup
  16. Joc's been awesome, but it's probably worth remembering George Springer had 12 HR in 28 G / 19 HR in 55 G stretch last year
  17. nobody liked Schwarber as much as we did, which is a credit to our scouting
  18. and he's basically Adam Dunn, but with plus CF defense how is that possible
  19. yep after he had just flailed at the slider...at least try it one more time and Paul Goldschmidt is the best hitter in the game, but
  20. the Goldschmidt HR still bothers me - a fastball, ahead in the count! - but after that it's like eh whatever
