  1. if they lose 3 more pitchers to long-term injuries and a couple every day starters i guess it could sort of happen
  2. and Markakis probably gets his hit back now
  3. how shallow must Maybin have been playing to reach that ball
  4. is Happ ineligible? and no Eloy is a slight surprise like, i'd sooner trade Almora with little hesitation
  5. his first HR came a pitch after ump called strike 3 a foul
  6. all i ask for in this series is that when we have Jose Abreu in a 2-strike count in the 9th inning, we don't give him an elevated fastball
  7. he's oft-injured and has a -1.2 RA9-WAR this year
  8. it really makes you think... http://www.canford.com/userfiles/images/the-thinker-statue-flickr-satyakam-khadikar-480.jpg
  9. on a related note, the Cardinals [expletive] team ERA is 2.63
  10. hitters watch his pitches because they know they can't hit him (.141! AVG), is the theory i'll go with
  11. http://web.archive.org/web/20051201033903/http://wordupthome.com/playerindex.html
  12. well i guess we did not learn our lesson from the whole Goldschmidt incident...
  13. so he'll be Justin Grimm / Cody Allen then if we could get more shutdown relievers like that for live-armed teenagers in SS, i'd do that until i ran out of teenagers, which is an admittedly simple illustration for how relatively little i value upside prayers like Steele & Sands...weren't we kinda upset about giving up on Jeferson Mejia's potential?
  14. Edwards is probably an MLB-ready RP right now with a starter's arsenal and can conceivably do the Carlos Martinez route of easing into an eventual rotation role, which seems *far* more valuable than whatever the Donnie Dewees dreams are...Dewees was the BA #67 prospect in his own awful draft class; where's the excitement?
  15. i fully agree with the second statement, but i'm interested in seeing your list without Edwards i see it like: Schwarber McKinney Torres Happ Eloy? and then that's about the lowest possible spot for me, but he's still probably top-5 unless there's reason to believe he won't ever rediscover command or anything like that
  16. just drop Peacock, raw's ahead of me in the standings and even i don't feel like his or anybody's team would have any type of advantage for being allowed to carry Brad Peacock for free basically i'm saying Brad Peacock sucks
  17. Motte and Doolittle, Sergio Santos also come to mind
  18. Leake and Latos do nothing for me. Love the idea of Brantley ZiPS ROS projects Latos for same FIP as Hamels
  19. my long-standing fetishizing of pitchers that hit well factoring that, and the WAR that actually matters, he's like a 2.5-3 win pitcher for his career (and Clayton Richard/Tsuyoshi Wada aren't) and should be exceedingly cheap to acquire
  20. Indians are interesting, at 5.5 back of WC i wonder what availability of Carrasco/Salazar/Brantley/McAllister will be Mat Latos/Yovani Gallardo/Mike Leake seem ideal targets in terms of value, though
  21. my assumption was carnage all over the field yet just one booking, but i might be way off
  22. prepubescents Willy Adames and Franklin Barreto were both the center piece of significant trades, of course he can be
