He can play LF, where at the moment we do not have a long term option. Sure Bryant or Schwarber could end up there, but right now they aren't, and as such MCKinney profiles as our future LF'er until Bryant and Schwarber prove they are disasters at their current positions i think it can reasonably inferred McKinney very much has a long-term role on the team the FO doesn't really appear to have a lot of love for players with poor approaches; we've seen repeated rumors of Castro, Baez being dangled in trade discussions, while Castillo and Alcantara have already been exiled, whereas they're actively acquiring anybody that makes opposing pitchers work: Montero, Fowler, LaStella (delayed promotions for Edwards is also another indicator of this attitude) if the "90% of the game is controlling the strike zone" refrain Theo's championed is reflective of their true beliefs, McKinney is nearly untouchable (given his presumably underwhelming trade value to other orgs)
