  2. pretty unbelievable finish in Sounders game... closing seconds of stoppage time, refs call penalty and what seems like the whole of Olimpia was trying to fight Brad Evans before the kick, he ends up scoring on it to win and taunts the keeper for the hell of it (and keeper kicks the ball at Evans) [vine] [/vine]
  3. guess i don't mind being blacked out of this one...
  4. Zelalem loaned out to Rangers
  5. apropos of nothing, he's been one of the worst hitters in baseball for driving in runs and the #3 hitter doesn't relatively face near as many of those situations as the other spots that surround it edit: on the other hand, hitting the P eighth probably flips this on its head...MOVE HIM DOWN
  6. Damn...Cubs playoff chances have increased 23% over the last 7 days and 48.7% over the last 17 days because we didn't disrupt team chemistry with any big-name deadline deals

  8. right, our postseason odds are like 5/6 likelihood right now and we already have a 3- or 4-man playoff rotation rivaling anybody's, not to mention two strong options to start the inevitable stupid coin-flip game...the bullpen is fine, the hitting doesn't have any obvious holes screaming for an upgrade total lunacy
  9. Ian Happ's strikeout problems are starting to worry me some
  10. Brown's a total no-brainer and Charles & Jeffrey, probably
  11. 1 Bryant 2 Kang 3 Pederson

  13. i don't really believe 2B is that difficult a position to man; Baltimore had Steve Pearce there for the better part of a month to little incident balls aren't even often hit hard there unless it's a pull-heavy LH, but then these guys are playing short RF anyway and the talk of Coghlan as a poor LF now is completely unfounded, at best it's drawing from outdated memories edit: touching on this in a little further detail, team UZR/150 standard deviations: 1B - 6.2 runs 2B - 5.9 SS - 8.6 3B - 8.3 RF - 7.9 CF - 12.9 LF - 10 suggesting there seems to be less difference between the effect of a bad fielder at 2B/1B than there is at positions like CF & 3B
  14. eh, they're probably thinking it's an outrage that .440 SLG guy will probably win MVP based purely on name recognition and hype while the guy quietly slugging .570 gets snubbed
  15. just throwing it out there, Kris Bryant has a higher WPA than Mike Trout (good for 10th-best in MLB) if you adjust for leverage index, it's not quite so rosy, but Bryant still does lead all rookies
  16. add Manny Machado drop Chase Headley
  17. Schwarber tops that list http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2015?list=c if you clear out names that should rightly be off the top-100 list already (like Schwarber, Sano, Matz, Conforto...) then i think you find Contreras pushing his way onto the tail end of it
