  1. Normally after all the losing I'd give up, but when you've actually gained a game on the Brewers and are only 5 GB it's too early to wave the flag. This team's pitching is strong enough (if Z gets right) that we could go into the playoffs hot and win it all. A new, smart owner & GM can clean up the old mess real quick.
  2. Big Z, Wade Miller, and Dempster to the Yanks for A-Rod please.
  3. Now he's getting his arm up a little bit more.
  4. I wouldn't be worried... Lou's just messing with people for competitive advantage at this point (he already got Ozzie with the Lee PH yesterday).
  5. This is the game we're going to get our OBP up
  6. perfect guy to face a lefty off the bench :D
  7. I'll be pretty happy splitting with the Mets on the road, considering Lee being out.
  8. Gotta give credit to Lou for pushing his buttons and unleashing his anger... he's been a much better player lately.
  9. They ought to play: Murton in LF/(RF when Floyd plays) Jacque in RF Pie in CF Soriano at 2B Theriot at SS
  10. Brewers are gonna start losing and a lot... they've been beating up on cupcakes in the NL Central and now they have to play the Big Dogs after they get past the Nats.
  11. I like how Lou uses the pen in general, since he'll leave someone in for an inning and 2/3rds or use a bunch of guys in a key inning. May come back and bite us in an extra inning game at some point, but he's definitely playing the matchups and he keeps the pen from burning itself out.
  12. What the hell? That doesn't make any sense. I kind of understand the idea of fitting Izturius to theoretically give Guzman some better defense to back him up, but DeRosa in RF instead of Murton or Jacque or Floyd deprives him of some decent offensive support. I hope this isn't actually the lineup. DeRosa eats lefties for breakfast, historically. Even has a better OPS the last two years against lefties than Murton. Yes, the best lineup would be Murton and Derosa both, but someone wants Izturis to play today apparently. Derosa's definitely a better choice than Floyd/Jacque against a generic lefty.
  13. The Brewers' schedule gets a lot tougher after they play Washington, so we should have a chance to make some ground up if we stay hot.
  14. I live about 70 miles from Cincy, just out of the market of the Cincy TV stations, and we didn't get any Reds games at all here. When Fox Sports Midwest started (the bizarre pairing of St. Louis and Indy) they didn't show any baseball at all in Indiana until they started showing some of the Reds games last year. Thusly, I'm a Cubs fan, and so is most of Indiana now.
  15. Haven't seen many pop flys crushed harder than that.
  16. He's been throwing out of a different arm slot than last year. He corrected it last game and did well and now he's back in that lower slot this game.
  17. why do you keep posting this? because i posted it on tuesday night and the cubs promptly won on thursday and since i have posted it the cubs have not lost they are 3-0 so i figure why mess with it and just keep putting up until they lose And now you've jinxed it by explaining what you're doing. :(
  18. Considering things seem to be clicking now, there's really no reason to make a move until we need a 5th starter.
  19. That guy in the crowd dropping the F-Bomb and saying something about a "bodybag" was loud as heck.
