  1. lol the strike one to Ramirez was just as bad as the strike one to Lee. A foot off the plate. I wouldn't mind but Harden wasn't getting pitches closer than that.
  2. No, we're rebuilding around the prospects we acquire from dealing our all-star caliber players and a pitching staff that is MORE than serviceable. What do you think a fair price in prospects is for Lee? Ramirez? What about Fukudome, who is one good night away from having the best OPS of any CF in baseball? I'd think we could get some top 50 talent for sure. All I'm saying is, we have the ability to make trades, get younger and keep the window open while still contending next year and that's WITHOUT adding payroll. If Ricketts is tight in the pocketbook, then he's gonna have to get creative to make it work.
  3. I agree that resigning Harden should be a priority. Frankly I wouldn't be opposed to gutting the team otherwise, as the window is closing and we could fill up the farm in deals for Lee, Fukudome, ARam, Lilly, Dempster, even Theriot . Obviously all is contingent on the waiving of no-trade clauses, but would they want to stay if the Cubs were gutting it? Getting some top, major-league-ready prospects back in those deals would allow us to still compete next year while cutting the budget considerably. A rotation of Harden Zambrano Wells Marshall Gorzellany/Cashner/acquired prospect is still more than serviceable. A bullpen with Guzman Marmol Grabow Parker Gaub Berg could be very strong We'd have to piece together the offense with our acquired prospects/pieces but we'd be keeping Soto, Fox and Soriano (no choice) to augment what we get. Assuming we can't work out a worthwhile deal for all of the guys above (say we keep ARam or Fukudome), we could still have a decent middle of the order, a good pitching staff and a more robust farm system with hopefully some top-end major league ready talent. While we might not be Series favorites next year, we would be markedly younger and could keep the window open for the forseeable future.
  4. We could see Hendry get creative if the ownership situation is still in flux and they can't add payroll. Could we see them try to re-convert Guzman into a starter? Will Cashner be given more than a cursory look in ST? Are they already planning to let Harden walk and thats why they acquired Gorz? Will they finally commit to Marshall as a starter? What do you guys think we could get for a package revolving around Z? Lilly? Would Philly be willing to trade Utley for Z + ? What about NYY and Cano?
  5. Papelbon went instead. Not sure why...
  6. I don't believe Fontenot led the world in HR/OPS when called up from the minors. Fox's power is for real. The fact that he's doing this in limited duty is staggering. His HR/AB is incredible. I'd almost be willing to move Soriano to 2nd to get his bat in the lineup. Almost.
  7. With the exception of the Neifi final-out-bunt, that might be the worst AB I have ever seen if game considerations (2 out, down 5, Lilly on deck) are a factor.
  8. It's not on. It's off.
  9. you and Muntjack I got it working!!! Just had to reverify.
  10. MLB TV is telling me I'm blacked out for this game even though I'm in Seattle. In fact, it says I'm blacked out for every game tonight. Does ESPN have all the rights on Wed. nights now?
  11. I think we might see something special today.....
  12. Too bad DLee is done.
  13. Acquiring a perennial Cy Young candidate for a guy in A ball with wrist problems and a utility man with a career 97 OPS + is a no-brainer. See what I did there? Used an analogous but incorrect argument? yes, we all saw it. Lol. There was nothing incorrect about my argument, just as there was nothing incorrect about yours, sir. You can participate in and add to a constructive discussion, or you can spin things in an attempt to validate your point of view. You simply choose the latter. Then you berate another (RyneDawson) for doing the same. I was simply trying to illustrate that.

  15. I don't see how anyone would prefer the second scenario. With Milwaukee's rotation in flux, we have an excellent shot at making the playoffs as is. Once there, Peavy/Harden/Z/Dempster gives us the edge over any other rotation we might face. This is a no-brainer, really.
  16. If Geo hits a slam I will streak through my neighborhood right now.
  17. He had to swing because that would have been called a strike. #$@^TY%#$&Y^3
  18. So the bases should be loaded with 0 outs......
  19. Doesn't anyone think getting Samardzjia in the rotation is one of Hendry's top priorities? He has been aggressively promoted, is cost-effective and has a higher ceiling than Marshall. My guess is Marquis is traded, Marshall is moved in a deal for a CF and Shark is given the #5 spot.
  20. I agree except for the bolded part. It doesn't really matter if you are called a 1 or 5 starter. The only time it makes much difference is in the playoffs I guess I worded that poorly. I basically just mean knocking Marquis off of the bottom and replacing him with someone who is an ace would turn this team from a playoff caliber team into a real WS caliber team, imo. Adding a player like Dunn could turn our A offense into an A+ offense, but we'd still be left praying that Lilly turns it around and Hill returns and puts up #s comprable to last year. It scares me thinking about who would start a game 2.
