  1. Bruce, is there any more love for Aramis in the press box after not only signing for below market value, but being the team's best offensive player (again)?
  2. For the last four weeks, they've been thrilled with who has been behind the plate. Which is why I'm concerned about bringing in a catcher who's defensive ability isn't what it used to be.
  3. Sucks for Milwaukee.
  4. I think Atlanta deals Salty and others for Willis.
  5. After sleeping on it, I've come to this conclusion: We didn't give up much of anything, we aren't paying anything, and I'm glad Hendry bought low for once, but we aren't that much better offensively and we're probably worse defensively. I guess that's a wash, but again, if we're going to have catchers that don't hit, they'd better be able to play the position well. That's my biggest concern.
  6. Rocket is right. A lot of Cubs fans are stupid, and there are a ton of stupid fans in the bleachers.
  7. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but don't we have to make another roster move to make room for Kendall?
  8. I don't even think Hendry looks at stats. To be completely honest, I'm not even that concerned with his offense. Our catchers right now suck. I expect Kendall to suck as well. It's the defense behind the plate that has me concerned. All things being equal, if we have crappy offensive catchers, I'd at least want the best defensive catcher out there so at least he's bringing something to the table.
  9. $100 says someone in the media complains about the bat flip/trot, even though he still got into 2nd base.
  10. Mizzou, I don't care about Blevins. He was possibly a useful piece, but I'm not going to lose sleep over him getting traded. I am upset that we added someone who's old, overpaid, and bad.
  11. NONONONONONONONO. He's so, so bad. Kendall is really bad. Offensively and defensively. Instead of upgrading at SS or RF, we somehow managed to downgrade our C position.
  12. It doesn't matter how good his OBP is because Izturis can outslug him for crying out loud. Kendall freaking sucks. We are worse off now than we were 24 hours ago. Unreal. This is such a horrid move. People are going to be begging for Michael Barrett in about a month.
  13. This is so beyond awful. Not only did we not clear a roster spot, but we aquired someone who is just as bad as our existing c atchers, but costs like 20x as much. AND we gave up a useful P. Jim Hendry is so, so, so bad it's unbelievable. It's not 1998. Jason Kendall is a sack of suck. He's worse than Cesar Izturis, sucks defensively, and by all accounts is a tool in the clubhouse.
  14. It would make Hendry look really, really bad if that were to happen. But I'd be all for it. He's crap. he's better than Koyie Hill, who absolutely sucks and is a pointless player on this team. Both are pretty bad. How would you differentiate between the two?
  15. It would make Hendry look really, really bad if that were to happen. But I'd be all for it. He's crap. Would it? All the sports talk/print guys in the city are glad Barrett's gone. They could care less who we got for him. I think he'd have cover for this one.
  16. Would anyone care if Rob Bowen were DFA'd? Because I wouldn't. Not that it would happen.
  17. Are they wearing Prussian-style military helmets? It matters. http://www.flayderman.com/helmet.gif Yes. That's how much I don't want us to spend $24m on a terrible, terrible pitcher.
  18. I would rather have midgets head butt me in the groin for a week straight than see the Cubs trade for Jose Contreras.
  19. We have won one playoff series in the last 100 years and Kerry is the main reason for it. That is why he can do nothing for three years yet still be the best. Too bad game 7 happened? Where was he in that one? From what I can recall, Dusty Baker got pantsed by an 103 year old man who got lucky with every decision he made and we lost after leading 5-3.
  20. He would bring awfulness and terribleitude. It's no longer 1998. He sucks. I would trade Oakland players to keep him away from us.
  21. I'd deal for Sosa without hesitation. You'd give up nothing, he's making nothing, and if it doesn't work out, you've lost nothing. The Cubs need to-for once-not put PR over a baseball decision. Sosa against LHP is a good baseball decision.
