  1. I don't buy it. It makes no sense for someone making a multi-billion dollar deal to get pissy over $6m dollars. I don't buy that Mike North "just reported" the story. He's not a reporter. He's a hack opinion giver who will run with any storyline he can find to create controversy. Mike North is a mushmouth. The though of Zell being involved with player movement over 6 mil is laughable. I would guess if Zell is, and that is an iffy is, it would be in the context of being involved in how Trib management spends the Tribs money plus the fact adding salary beyond this year could affect the price he will get for the Cubs. And $6 million + dollars is still a lot of money no matter how many billion you are spending for the Trib. The Cubs have already signed Jones. They've spent the $7m. What would Zell care about $7m for given that it's already committed? It doesn't hold up to scrutiny. This is garbage speculation by people who want to stir up something.
  2. Personally, they'd be better off keeping Who? and trying to deal Konekro, Crede, Dye, Podsednik, Iguchi...basically their whole offense needs to be replaced. Who? and Garland are still young enough to stick around for a 2 year rebuild. So, I can't fault Williams there. This seems like a sound decision.

  4. Can't see the Bobcats passing on him at 8 if he's still there. I like Draft Express' mock better with the Bulls taking Brandan Wright. Isn't Brandan Wright the guy who won't work out against anyone else?
  5. Gotta be. It makes no sense for someone making a multibillion dollar transaction to care about $7 million dollars.
  6. Wait, so someone who has made an offer to buy a media company has vetoed the decision made by the general manager of a baseball team that makes up part of the media company over $7m? That sounds like a load of crap. $7m is nothing. Nothing. There must be more to this.
  7. I maintain shenanigans. With so many people trying to figure out if he's been dealt today, someone would have broken this.
  8. If we got the whole state, or even just the team, that would be a fine trade. whoops! That would be one impressive deal, though. Would we have to take Jeb?
  9. If we traded him for Florida, we probably picked up all his salary.
  10. THIS JUST IN: Raisin's a LIAR!! Vote USS! :P
  11. Jesus, just cut Izturis or Jones already. Not that Theriot was playing great or anything, but he brings more to the table than either of those two do...
  12. http://www.kikman.de/Logos-Signs/SI-Mayor_%20Quimby.gif Vote, er um, USS! Ich Bin Ein Northsidebaseball postah.
  13. http://blogs.toolbarn.com/spam/uploaded_images/kang-kodos-790538.jpg VOTE USS!
  14. Yeah, the 4 match ban was appropriate. Anything more than 4 would have been overkill. BTW, I see that I'm getting beaten. This saddens me.
  15. most ceilings are about 10 ft, right?
  16. What is so bad about Joakim Noah? I know a lot of people around here hate him. Can someone explain this to me? He's a whiny douche of titanic proportions. I meant skills-wise. Well, his GRIT factor is off the charts...
  17. Oh, like the Karl Rove comparison was nice.
  18. Remember, Bears fans...a vote for Raisin is a vote for this guy: http://free.prohosting.com/~5040/images/players/mcnown.jpg
  19. I'm neither Italian nor Mexican, and my name isn't Cristiano Ronaldo. So no flopping for me. As an American player, I earn my fould the old fashioned way: http://i.a.cnn.net/si/2006/soccer/specials/world_cup/2006/06/20/mcbride.apology/t1_mcbride.jpg
  20. I defy anyone with a pulse to have watched yesterdays game and not think it was unbelievably exciting. Watching Ryan Harvey strike out is more exciting than soccer?
  21. Hotlinking on the interwebs is perfectly acceptable. Vote for me. I don't make value judgements on people who hotlink.
  22. I paid $38 a seat, including fees, right when they went on sale, and was ten rows from the field behind the North goal (from now on to be known as the Benny Feilhaber goal) Other tickets in the corners/midfield were $60 and $75 plus fees, I think. Tickets were very hard to come by the last several days (it sold out soon after the semis on Thursday) The north end of the field was a lonely place for an American fan to be. I was in the far corner in the 5th row. Awesome seats. There were a fair number of us, just not as many as the south end. But it was all worth it to be so close to the Benny volley. I think I counted 15 fans in my section.
