  1. I didn't know Doug Melvin was Colin Cowherd in disguise.
  2. There shouldn't be. He's been our best player for 3 years. Best position player. I'd argue Big Z as the best Cubs player though during that time period. In 2005, I think Lee has to get some credit. From 2004 to 2006, and thru 2007 so far, Aramis has been far superior. Lee wasn't very good in 2004. How can you argue that? He wasn't a star, but he still had a 114 OPS+ and hit 30+ homers. He didn't get the OBP as high as usual, but I don't think it's fair to say he wasn't very good. Aside from vanishing in April and September, he was fine. Aramis was 136 OPS+ in 2004. Better.

  5. Maybe next time Lilly could not throw a beach ball to Bonds.
  6. There's no way Wayne Krivsky could possibly be this stupid. And if he is, Hendry needs to get involved if only to screw up the Brewers deal or drive up the price.
  7. Apathy. Was that an answer or an order? Either way, I don't care... Wow.. a JC sighting. Don't stare. Unpossible.
  8. Preferrably, but not a must. They could trade us the rights to Andy Van Slyke if they really want. I could care less.
  9. Levine isn't very good at his job. He nailed one scoop. That's like saying Neifi's awesome because he hit one walk off HR. Who in that profession nails most of their scoops? You're saying that Levine isn't that bad and basing it on him nailing one trade. I'm saying that him nailing one trade doesn't make up for the overall poor job he does, not just at getting inside info on trades, but analyzing the team, providing insightful commentary and not being smug when people call him out on his poor opinions..

  11. Boston might decide he's better than Julio Lugo for some reason.
  12. Yeah, Murton's call-up will occur when they are ready to give him steady playing time. They are looking for a short-term fix here, and a guy like Fox, with his 1B experience, better fits the bill. Plus why use up Murt's options when you know he is headed back down soon? Isn't it one option used per year, and then you can yo-yo him around as much as you want?
  13. No. Bruce doesn't write articles with a clear anti-Cub bias. When Bruce is critical, it's backed up with facts. Sullivan doesn't. If Sullivan posted here, he'd be treated like we treat anyone who makes poor arguments. He'd be called out and made to defend his arguments.
  14. Fielder is better than Lee today, and will be better than him for the rest of time going forward, barring injury. There's no legit argument that favors Lee. However, Ramirez is better than Braun. I'm not brooking argument on that. Cedeno should be starting right now at SS. Pie should be in CF, and whoever posted that Theriot is better than Reyes better have been kidding.
  15. If he's going to suck defensively, he'd better get on base.
  16. His baserunning this year has been excellent. I've seen him run extremely hard on routine grounders all season. He got hurt trying to beat a ball out. You're taking one incident, where he thought a ball was going out and didn't, and saying that he's still a lazy, disinterested baserunner. That's completely wrong. Well I certainly hope you're right and I'm wrong in the general. Doesn't change my opinion of the specific. ARam's mucked things up in the past by standing and admiring near-homers. It's frustrating to see it continue even when it doesn't wind up costing the Cubs. When? There are millions of babies starving in Africa, although if you wanted to challenge me on that, I couldn't name you even one. I can't recall the exact dates and times when ARam's standing at the plate while the ball caroms off the wall has bit him and the Cubs in the behind. But I can recall it happening more than once. Not good enough. You can't disparage a guy's reputation with absolutely no evidence to back it up. Name me one time where he's been thrown out because he jogged out of the box on a hard hit ball. I'll bet you can't.

  19. http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports_hardball/2007/07/the-morning-aft.html What's funny is that after his double, I posted in the game thread that someone in the media was going to complain aboutthe bat flip/stare, despite the fact that: -He made it to 2nd easily -He wasn't getting a triple -It was a game winning hit Someone almost immediately said it would be Paul Sullivan. What's even funnier is that after 3.5 years of being nothing but productive, and signing a contract last winter for at least $20m below his market value, there are still media guys who clamor for him to be more like Jacque Jones, of all people. Unreal. Also in the blog was this gem: Get over yourself, Paul.
  20. Sucks for Milwaukee. was this a known risk? if not, i could see this getting very ugly Milwaukee should have known better. The Chinese made it very clear where he would and would not go, and they needed to work within that. Milwaukee made the mistake that the either thought they could deal Yi, or sell him on Wisconsin. Whoops.
