  1. Yeah. It's one thing if Rozner writes something like "Ramirez stunk in the playoffs, and needs to never do that again" or something like that. But I'd even take some issue with that. It's a sample size of 3 games. He looked god awful. He's still a very, very good player. However, Rozner has expressed a dislike of Aramis in the past, and the LDS just gives him a pretext for voicing said dislike in the stupidest way possible. If he wants to beat the "trade someone because they sucked in the LDS" drum, he should be advocating moving Lee. But that won't happen, because Lee plays ball with the media, and Aramis usually doesn't. However, I felt that even that was different this year. Aramis ran hard, played while hurt nearly the whole year, and was our best offensive player. But yeah, let's recycle the whole "professional base-jogger" crap. And people will buy it, because he was so bad in the playoffs.
  2. -I'd shop Marquis, offering to eat 50% of 2008 and 25% of 2009 -I'd deal Dempster to pretty much anyone who would take him. Baltimore? -I'd resign Wood for 2/$6m plus incentives -I'd make sure to keep Prior and look at him as a May aquisition. I like the Carpenter comp. for him very much. -I'd see if LA was dumb enough to trade Loney or Kemp for Lee. -I'd let Floyd, Monroe, Trachsel and Kendall walk -I'd let Pie and Soto be opening day starters -I'd look at dealing Jones. Could something like Dempster/Jones/Veal/Marshall for Tejada work?
  3. Wow. Just...wow. Barry Rozner must have been waiting all year to write a "I hate Ramirez" article. Too bad he was our best offensive player all season, so he never had an excuse until now. Screw Rozner. Seriously. He's passed Sullivan for the worst writer in the city.
  4. Wow. That was an awful inning. That wasn't a strike either. The zone has been horsecrap.
  5. This team is nothing if not predictable. They picked an awful time to have one of their teamwide naps.
  6. It seems like all it would take for us to settle in would be one big inning. One big hit. And we aren't getting it. We aren't getting breaks, we aren't driving the ball, and our relievers aren't going to be able to hold them off the whole game.
  7. I think the game just ended right there. Their pen is too good for this offense to score on right now.
  8. That was a ball. Gibson's zone is all over the place.
  9. Hahahahahaha Kendall is going to bat 2nd and go 0-4 with 4 weak pop flys to RF, Hill is going to throw a shutout and Kendall will get all the credit.
  10. AZ winning Game 1 gave them way too much confidence. I suppose if they can win Game 3, they'll probably win Game 4. But winning Game 3 to me is really unlikely. If they fall behind at any point in the game they're screwed.
  11. The game in 2004 that Hawkins blew against the Mets, I flipped over my bedside table. It was just a visceral, knee jerk reaction that I didn't think about before hand. I don't think I've cared enough since to break anything. I just went to sleep after about the 6th inning and fast forwarded through the rest of the game this morning. This team isn't good enough to get really upset about. This is who they are. They go into teamwide slumps at terrible moments.
  12. I'm sticking to my Arizona in 4 prediction.
  13. There's a pretty big distinction in someone stating an opinion like Silver did, and an organization taking credit for a scientific prediction like PECOTA did for the White Sox, especially considering the backlash BP got from the Chicago media. I can't believe people are complaining about this.
  14. -I don't see him accepting -I can't imagine him not being booed mercilessly. -If he accepts, I pray to God that the Cubs aren't losing/don't blow a lead This is a bad idea with great intentions.
  15. I think Arizona beats us in 4.
  16. John Terry broke his cheekbone and Didier Drogba was red-carded in that game as well. Roman's empire is falling apart. Clint busted Terry's cheek. Nice. You don't screw with Clint. Ever. He'll knock you out. Break your jaw. Fracture your cheek, and then nail your girlfriend.
  17. A 10:30 am local start is ridiculous.
  18. What's the B'Dacks board say about why the calls are being made? Like, do they want earlier or later starts?
  19. There's no way that's right. That would be a 10am start in AZ. EDIT: Noon in AZ for the 2pm CT starts. MLB would be shooting themselves in the foot. There's no excuse for us not to be the evening games both nights this week.
  20. My thoughts: I don't see any way this series isn't the late game every night. Aside from the fact that you can't have the West Coast game as the early start, the fact that it's the Cubs means that MLB will do everything they can to max out the ratings for the NLDS. At worst, we'd end up being the 7:30 start once and the 9:30 start once. I'll be right pissed if they end up playing while I'm still at work. I think Eric Byrnes and Chris Young are the guys we have to watch out for. I think Kendall will end up starting Game 1, so we need to keep their faster players off base. I feel good about Z or Lilly winning one of the first two. I think this series goes at least 4. I also think PingHitter's scouting report is dead on. Attack Webb early, and wait Davis and Hernandez out. Every game, at least two of the Big 3 need to produce.
  21. You know what annoys me about that game in 1998? Trachsel. Yeah, he only gave up 1 hit. He also walked like 6 guys in 6 innings, and we would have been soundly spanked had the Giants been able to have even a below average BABIP. He was extraordinarily lucky that game.
  22. If you have the choice of keeping Dempster or Wood, you keep Wood without hesitation.
  23. I'll second this, except without the j/k. I can't stand women's soccer.
  24. USSoccer day isn't until the 9th, so you have plenty of time to decide what to do.
  25. Dude, I'm stone cold sober. Just bored.
