  1. A Liverpool v Newcastle FanZone would be the best. An incomprehensible Geordie and an incomprehensible Scouser yelling at each other for 90 minutes.
  2. Peter Nowak? I hope not. this is american soccer's take on the Euro roster If that's the case, then the USSF is outdoing itself in screwing up. Peter Nowak's personal issues with Adu shouldn't affect roster decisions for the national team.
  3. he's not on the roster for Sweden. Sal Zizzo is, though. Weird. I have no idea how he looks because the feed I'm getting here at work is jumpy as all hell. Wait, the roster is out? I didn't think it would be out until tomorrow. Why would we cap tie Zizzo and not cap tie Adu? http://www.ussoccer.com/articles/viewArticle.jsp_1998864.html Kamani Hill, Charlie Davies and Zizzo. Freddy with a near-assist. Headed a ball back across the box to a wide open teammate who got nothing on his header. Heath Pearce must have lit Bob Bradley's dog on fire and then pissed on it and lit it up again. He plays an hour from Sweden, yet they're going to drag Bornstein all the way from LA to get lit up on the left side. I am not impressed with Hill or Davies. Zizzo I'm pretty meh on. Not sure why Convey's going to play when he's still not playing for Reading.

  5. Next week's friendly against Sweden would be the perfect time to cap-tie Freddy. How does he look, Seth?
  6. I'd be all about seeing USA v Brazil in person but the 3 pm start puts it right in line with the Bears season opener. D'oh. Yeah, I know. It's a real tough call. If Kaka and Ronaldinho are playing, though, it'll make it much easier. You don't get too many chances to see great players like that. Very true. I'm fine watching the Bears game off my DVR, too. But I just know someone will spoil the score before I can get home to watch it. Heck, they'll probably provide Bears updates on the big screen at Soldier's. Yeah, I'd bet you couldn't get thru the game without hearing or seeing the score somewhere.

  8. Good.
  9. Why is it being marketed as the "Clash of Champions"? Is Brazil playing itself? :) Brazil and the US each won their confederation tournaments, Copa America and the Gold Cup, respectively.
  10. USA v Mexico in the Azteca is off. USA v Brazil...in Chicago...is ON. for September 9th. It's going to be awesome, except I can't remember if that's a FIFA date or not, so you might see the MLS All-Stars getting beatdown by Brazil. http://www.ussoccer.com/articles/viewArticle.jsp_1998855.html
  11. He came in at the 46th. I hope he gets more of a chance to play and get a rhythm going. He looked invisible because Fulham's central mids suck and couldn't hold any possesion, and when they did they attacked down the opposite wing. The one attack they played thru Clint led to a scoring chance, but instead of pulling it left and getting and angle on Lehmann, he side footed it wide. He looked timid overall, though. I don't know how effective he is as a sub. BTW, Carlos Bocanegra is a calamity. And Marcus Hahnemman was a beast for Reading. I think Dempsey was put in a tough spot, because it was obvious that Fulham was going to mostly defend from the moment he was put on, and defending is not his forte. Still, he didn't look good, that's for sure. Boca is definitely lucky that Zat Knight appears to be coming into his own as a stonewalling central defender. Yeah, I thought it was a curious substitution. Clint's defensive workrate on the wing isn't good. He's more of a central player, but Fulham don't use him there.

  13. I'm not even lying when I say I wouldn't give the now DFA'd Dopirak for him. He's completely useless. I don't even know why Hendry would have bothered with the claim.
  14. that's because Ozzie hates him. As well he should. He's complete crap.
  15. Seriously? Wow, good for him.
  16. If all we want is a pinch runner/defensive replacement/fast guy for the OF, we have one. His name is Felix Pie. Or Epatt for that matter. There's just no point in getting Pods. He doesn't solve any of our problems. He would serve to satisfy Hendry's "scrappy veteran leadoff hitter" fetish.

  18. The problem is that he has to get on base to run the bases smart, and he hasn't done that well. He also can't play defense at all, so I'm not sure which Scott Podsednik you've seen. As far as Pagan and Podsednik, they both suck, but we already have one, and I wouldn't want to give anything for the other. Also, no one said he'd cost a lot to aquire. KW probably can't wait to dump him on us.
  19. Good lord is LA terrible. Just terrible. I'm not sure how they've won 3 games, honestly. I'm not quite sure why AEG keeps letting Alexi Lalas run teams into the ground. He's the worst GM in professional sports by a mile. Did you see Nesta retired from international play?
  20. Never? Sometimes, just not much recently. And he's also had trouble getting on the field. And again, he's a terrible defensive OF. Where is he going to play?
  21. No. He'll grind out an extension in no time. Christ, I don't know if I could handle a Cubs postseason listening to people slobber all over Pods.
  22. Podsednik is complete garbage. Bad defensively. No power. Injury prone. I don't see how he helps unless he plays the Doug Glanville 2003 role, and then immediately goes away. There's a reason CWS want him gone. They figured out he's crap. Is he under contract beyond 2007?
  23. -Benny F. got his work permit, so he'll be set to play for Derby. -Beckham made his MLS debut last night in the 73rd minute for the collection of garbage that is the LA Galaxy. It's very, very telling that despite being injured and unfamiliar with his teamates, he's already easily their best player. I counted 3 world class passes from him that his teamates managed to completely squander. 46,000 showed up at RFK, the higlight being the banner hung by DC's fan group that said "We Sing Better Than Your Wife".
  24. Oh, Jesus no. I really, really hope we can't work this out. This would be an absurd move.
