  1. Pagan is an acceptable 25th man. He shouldn't be starting games.
  2. Go Cubs. Was it really necessary for you to take a shot at Vance?
  3. The thing is-your assumption at the beginning of the post is not completely correct. Kendall's OBP with the Cubs is over .365. There are 6 catchers out of 50 in the major leagues with 100 AB's that have that number. He is not playing terribly offensively. So-do the Cubs ride out his hot streak and take his defense with it, or do they make a move even when he's doing well offensively? It depends on if his defense begins to cost us more runs than his offense will likely generate. His Cubs numbers are with small sample sizes, but his season totals indicate to me a below average offensive player. I have no faith in his ability to put up a .365 OBP over the last 2 months of the season, and even if he does, if he's giving up 4 extra bases per game, is it worth it? Would Soto give you a better overall value? I have a feeling that Soto would be a better overall fit. I also have a feeling that we'll not be finding that out.
  4. If I were managing against the Cubs, I'd call up any soft tossing LHP from my 40 man and run him out there. We cannot, cannot hit left handed pitching, and it's been that way since 2003.
  5. You answered your own question with your last sentence. No one of any value will get to us. Dunn is too cheap to clear all those teams. Griffey probably won't, and neither will Church. The only other OF that has a chance of clearing waivers AND filling a need for this team, won't be considered for PR reasons.
  6. They might lose there female demographic if they do that. All six of them will understand. It just makes them look stupid. I can only imagine what is going to happen when he actually plays a full 90. I almost wonder if Galaxy fans feel like we did several years ago with Wood and Prior. Although I actually think Beckham will play soon and be very productive for them. David Beckham can't save that team. They're terrible. They're badly coached, and they can't execute for crap. If David Beckham were named Steven Gerrard, and actually were Steven Gerrard, maybe. But Beckham is going to be playing out of position in an overly physical league that's technically inferior. He'll take brilliant free kicks, but to think he's going to control midfield is just foolish.
  7. I said this when we traded for Kendall, and I'll say it again: If our catchers are going to suck offensively, they'd better be able to play defense. Kendall seems unable to play his position with any effectiveness. We can't have teams taking free bases at will like they are doing. Throwing out 6% or whatever it is of baserunners is beyond pathetic.

  9. With Tejada no longer a possibility, and Soriano out, I wonder about Church, Dunn and Griffey.
  10. Ouch! :!: Lou needs to take a deep breath, consult with Hendry, and use this lineup: Theriot Murton Lee Ramirez Floyd DeRosa Soto Pie Not that there was any excuse before tonight, but without Soriano we can't possibly expect to contend using Kendall, Hill, Jones and Pagan as often as we do.
  11. Toronto FC has the best fans in MLS. Watching them chuck streamers at LD during every corner was fantastic. Also, memo to ESPN: Don't have a "Beckham Cam" when all he's doing is sitting there.
  12. It's not nonsense. He's the 5th best starter on this team. It's silly to compare him to other team's aces and such. It makes sense to see how he performs compared to other team's 5th starters. And he performs very well. Better than every other team's 5th starter. He's doing his job. What?? "He's doing his job"?? What's his job? To pitch us out of games? To give up 4 runs in 5 IP? He's sucked the past 2 months. He's the "5th starter" because he's easily the worst on our staff. He's making too much money to have a above 5 ERA.
  13. Yeah, aside from the fact that he hasn't. Damn it DeRosa, what the hell What was his July ERA again? 6? Yeah, he's awesome. Look at his game log. He hasn't been as bad as you make him out to be. As I said in another thread, he's the best 5th starter in baseball too. You're right, I was wrong. He's been bad for 9 weeks. His June ERA was over 5 and his July ERA was over 6. Yeah, great, he can mix in one good start amidst 3 godawful ones. We should be lucky we have him for 3 years. 3 of his last 6 starts have been quality. No 5th starter in baseball has a better ERA than Marquis. Keep the hyperbole coming. Come on, Mizzou. "5th starter" is nonsense. That's a cherry picked fact. He's a bad starter. No contending team should have a 5th starter who pitches with an ERA above 5 for 2 straight months. You know better that that. He had a very good April and a decent May. He's fallen off a cliff since.
  14. Yeah, aside from the fact that he hasn't. Damn it DeRosa, what the hell What was his July ERA again? 6? Yeah, he's awesome. Look at his game log. 16. can't really blame Pagan for the second one; the run was scoring from first on that ball too. We would have at least had a chance. Castillo doesn't run as well as he used to. Having him at 1st would have made a big difference. That and it's a stupid, inexusable play to dog it on a fly ball. He acted like no one was on, took a crow hop, and hitched his throw.
  17. Nice to see all our flaws being exposed on national TV. Marquis has been awful for 6 weeks, our OF completely sucks, our offense is inept against LHP and our trainers are beyond bad.
  18. So that's two runs Pagan's crap defense has cost us in a game where Glavine's getting 4 inches either way, and we already know we suck against LHP. Awesome. Just awesome.
  19. Holy Christ, Pagan, can't you play your position? That's twice this game he's been overanxious or lazy. I'm so sick of our OF it's not even funny. We suck in the OF. Suck suck suckity suck.
  20. Our trainers need to figure out how to properly hydrate and stretch our players out. That, and our hitters need to start hitting those 86 mph pitches.
  21. LOL You're kidding, right?
  22. Milwaukee is better than we are.
  23. All that means is that the current GM is an idiot, too. That's not exactly a revelation.
  24. I'll kick it there, provided there be a forum for real "football" :P just kidding. sort of.
