  1. Probably not, but why does that matter? Are you saying he can't keep a team "in the game" or pitch to his run support?
  2. You're wrong. It means he's a piss poor ninny who should be dealt immediately. What kind of pansy has a higher ERA with guys on base? I'll tell you what kind, a documented steroid abuser. Funny how you revert to this type of a point when you can't prove me wrong. 'Cuse, it's going to be impossible to prove you wrong, because if he's getting rocked, his numbers will suck because he's getting rocked. You've constructed a circular argument.
  3. You're wrong. It means he's a piss poor ninny who should be dealt immediately. What kind of pansy has a higher ERA with guys on base? I'll tell you what kind, a documented steroid abuser. And a thief
  4. No one has LD% by split. that's why you have to WATCH THE GAMES. I remember once it seemed like Mark Prior gave up 7 runs with one pitch. And then put on a Hamburgler suit and ran off with a sack of money he didn't earn.

  6. He needs to inject himself with some perspective.
  7. FWIW, for everyone crowing about Kerry Wood and Mark Prior being on the list...neither one are.
  8. What fun witch hunts can be.
  9. From a business perspective, who gives a crap if Prior wants to be here? He was Cubs property up until we non tendered him. The smart business decision would have been to tender him an offer and work out a trade, or hold onto his rights, go to arbitration, win, and then see what he gives you.
  10. You've got to be kidding me. He has no idea how to negotiate.
  11. This was a stupid business and baseball decision that I hope we don't come to regret.
  12. I think it's clear Hendry has no idea how to haggle. Why would you say that? That's significantly less than Baltimore was asking for at the beginning of negotiations. Because it's Hendry that should hold the cards. We have DeRosa, Theriot, Cedeno and Fontenot. We just landed our #1 target. Adam Everett is out there, non-tendered, waiting to be picked up. Baltimore sucks, and they aren't going to compete anytime soon, and when they do, Brian Roberts will be like 44. There's not way in hell we should be giving up 4 players from our 40 man for a redundant role player.
  13. How are people missing the point that buying time is an important factor in tendering him an offer?
  14. The Cubs spent 2.5/yr on Neifi Perez. The Cubs spent $6 million over 2 years on Glendon Rusch. $3 million isn't much to roll the dice and see what you can get out of someone with the potential of Mark Prior. But he's not staying. Also, wouldn't it be a smart move to not repeat past mistakes? Just because they've made some foolish moves in the past doesn't mean they should continue making them. That's only a good point if you are under the mistaken assumption that keeping Prior would be a mistake. You gamble on potential greatness, or even goodness. Those foolish moves were wasting money on guaranteed crap. Gamble on what? The Cubs pay for rehab the whole year and then he leaves....what on earth are the Cubs getting out of this great potential? Assuming he could come back in June, he would be able to potentially give them 10-15 starts. It also buys you time to mend fences.
  15. I would have rather had Tejada than Roberts. I want Greene more than both. Houston gave up a pile of crap for him, too. Nice deal for them, assuming he isn't suspended or something.
  16. All of this is incorrect. All of it. Hendry even came out once in 2004 or 2005 and ripped Prior for coming out of a game when "nothing was wrong with him". They waited until 2007 (!) to have his shoulder properly examined and operated on.
  17. Why don't we slip that Ted Lilly character into the 5th spot? I hear he's not too terribly bad. How the hell I forgot Lilly is beyond me. I knew something was wrong with what I typed, but this has been a long morning here at work. Chalk this one up to a brain fart. So, yes... Zambrano, Lilly, Hill, Burnett, Marshall does look a hellova lot better. With Hart and who else ready when a couple of those guys break down? I want a solid 8 to feel secure about this. Hart, Dempster, Petrick?
  18. I'd make the deal, assuming Roberts is aquired. It's roughly salary neutral and Burnett gives you the potential for stardom. Even 20 starts from Burnett is better than 30 from Marquis. Our IF depth would be a bit sketchy, as would our OF depth. We'd have to hold on to either EPatt or Murton.
  19. That's crappy.
  20. Contract seems reasonable enough. Hopefully he adjusts sooner rather than later.
  21. Yikes. Yes. Yikes. Do you see what we mean now? I'm not dumb. It's not that I am saying that Theriot doesn't have a place on the team. I'd be very happy with him on the bench. He's league minimum, seems like a good guy to have on the team, and he has his uses. He's just not an everyday player, nor do I think he's the best option on the team. Honestly, if showing you the Neifi comparison doesn't convince you, nothing will. As a starter, he's Bayou Neifi.
  22. What's idiotic is not being able to comprehend that the reason people keep using Cedeno's 2006 and Theriot's 2007 stats is because those are the ONLY FULL SEASONS THAT EITHER PLAYER HAS TO COMPARE. It's really not that hard to understand or comprehend. We are not talking about the potential of the two players, we are talking about their production. Who's stats are the top lines? Not Cedeno's. So the animosity is because you think I'm racist or something? I'm not even the ethnicity you are implying! -I'm not calling you a racist, I'm saying that people's perception of Theriot's ability is affected by his race. -The other player isn't Cedeno. It's 2005's Neifi Perez. They have just about the same stat line. Think about that for a second. No one called Neifi the 2005 MVP (other than Dusty). No one clamored for Neifi to be the everyday SS.
  23. This is truly idiotic. You keep using Cedeno's 2006 stats-when he was 22-23 years old, and compare them to Theriot's 2007-when he was 27-28 years old, and holding that as evidence that Theriot is better. Despite that every single age even comparison has Cedeno light years better than Theriot. Seriously-people need to get over the Theriot crap. See the below stat lines for a comparison. Which player would you rather have? 154 572 59 157 33 1 9 54 8 4 18 47 .274 .298 .383 75 148 537 80 143 30 2 3 45 28 4 49 50 .266 .326 .346 72 One of these players is universally loathed by everyone here. The other is Theriot. See the similarities? If Theriot wasn't short and white, no one would be putting up this kind of illogical fight.
