  1. I think they're completely appropriate. He's on something if he thinks league average performance should earn him $9m per. Not if he can get it. If someone is stupid enough to give it to him, I'll gladly edit my comments to indicate that the GM in question smokes crack. Until then, David will have to smoke it all by himself.

  3. They might threaten the single season wins record.
  4. Which means the below replacement level sparkplug starts at SS for us. Awesome.
  5. I wouldn't let Jacobi Eckstein stop me from getting Johan Santana.
  6. There's always Shawn Green. If you'd like to see a group of people have an e-stroke, sure.
  7. The last time we sat screwing around with RF options in the offseason we ended up with Jeromy Burnitz and a sub .500 team. They need to be prepared for Fukudome not coming.
  8. Nothing imminent. Yes, I am in Nashville. The Cubs never were considering Dempster to Toronto. That was a media creation. They say they've not talked to the Reds about Hamilton. They're not trading Rich Hill or Felix Pie. So, what are they doing?
  9. Can't you bring us good news for once?
  10. I was about to ask this. I thought his name sounded familiar from somewhere other than just ESPN/sports talk radio/etc. Wasn't he their top pick in that draft? After Swisher, IIRC. He was one of the sandwich picks.
  11. This also has my stamp of approval. Less valuable than Meph's, but better than, say CT's.
  12. I disagree. Willis has a perceived value that would likely net them some young talent. I think they could get more by dealing them separately. That perceived value is why he is going to make a ton of cash in arbitration. Cash Florida probably has very little interest in paying. And some team will be willing to pay that ton of cash in arbitration AND give up talent to get him. I would probably compare any Cabrera/Willis deal to the Beckett/Lowell deal. Taking Lowell and his salary was a condition to getting Beckett. The package Boston put together was geared towards Beckett. They didn't add pieces to get Lowell. Same thing here, probably.
  13. I always liked Ohman, but it was pretty clear he was on the outs. To clear he and Infante is a win for me. Every extra million in budget space helps.
  14. we would if he was left handed We could all hold the candles in our left hands, as a symbolic reminder of what could have been. EDIT: I love that you spelled it "Mourton", like we're in mourning. That's perfect.
  15. Billy Beane. Would Jersey Cub Fan?
  16. Would anyone deal Hill for Swisher?
  17. Good trade for the White Sox. I'm a little jealous.
  18. It's probably the same m.o. behind Haren being shopped. If we offer something impressive, he'll deal him. So...what would a fair deal for Swisher be? It seems we're shopping Prior. So...how about like Prior/Gallagher/Colvin for Swisher? Beane loves OBP, not something Colvin exactly excells at. Colvin's best comp is Mark Kotsay, right?
