  1. This is a logical fallacy. The 2007 Cubs didn't win because of Ryan Theriot. The numbers show that they won in spite of him. He just happened to be the SS on that team. That's not a good enough reason to support continued poor play from his position.
  2. He shouldn't make bone-headed baserunning mistakes, or have a clue at the plate so that Lou isn't forced to play Theriot. He needs to mature as a player, in other words. Got that? First of all, throw out plate production. He's at the least equal to Theriot in that regard right now, despite age. Next, do you really believe a handful of baserunning mistakes makes him an immature player? Are you really going to hose him as a prospect because he overslid 2B and got tagged out? How is he supposed to mature as a player if he's behind an inferior, older non-prospect? You aren't using any critical thinking skills when making these statements. Theriot was the definition of terrible in 2007. He had one good month amidst a sea of crap. He's 28. He doesn't get on base. He doesn't hit for power. He's not that fast. He doesn't have good range or a good SS arm. How again is he anything better than a utility player?
  3. This is amazing. It's like the past 24 hours are some sort of Golden Age for humor.
  4. So when will Theriot prove he can hit at the ML level? Theriot's numbers at this time are better than Cedeno's. I never said Theriot was the best SS in the majors but at this time he is better than Cedeno. Theriot was one of the worst SS in the NL. He's 5 years older than Cedeno. Cedeno would be very hard pressed to do worse than Theriot did last season.
  5. So when will Theriot prove he can hit at the ML level?
  6. Repeat after me: Cedeno was 22 in 2006. Ryan Theriot was 27 in 2007. Do you see how that maybe might be a factor in Cedeno's numbers? I don't understand how people can be this blind to fact. I don't give a rat's what Cedeno's age is. Until he proves that he's a better player than Theriot, he will be sitting on the bench. I'm sure he has upside, but we haven't seen it yet at the major league level. If you don't factor age and level into the equation, you don't understand baseball. Ronny Cedeno has outperformed Ryan Theriot by leaps and bounds at every level, at every age. He was rushed to the bigs in 2006, and sucks, but at least it was sucking at age 22-23, instead of 27-28.

  8. Or, we go try the 23 year old we have in house that costs league minimum and actually has a ceiling beyond replacement level.
  9. He. Had. One. Good. Month. How hard is this to get? Yeah, good for him, he hustles down the line, and tries hard, and is short and white and whatever, but he's freaking terrible. He's below replacement level, and he's 28. He's not going to be better. He's the primary reason our offense sucks, and yet people like you defend him to the death for some inexplicable reason. People need to get over the Little White Guy crush. He's not a starter on a serious baseball team.
  10. BEST POST EVER. Jesus, how did I miss that sentence? That's priceless.
  11. Yes. It's impossible to conclude he sucks just based on the mountain of evidence at our disposal.
  12. He's put in more innings because he's been in the majors longer. He's also injury prone, coming off a career year, and in GAPB he's going to suffer even more.
  13. The fact that people really, truly think that Ryan Theriot was our MVP, and is a good young player is what's wrong with baseball. Just to restate it....Ryan Theriot was one of the worst SS's in the NL last year. There's no way in hell he's a promising young anything. -He's not "promising". -He's not young.
  14. GRIT. Wow, I thought that was bad, some of the posts in that thread are calling/hoping for Bedard for Kemp/LaRoche/Kershaw/Broxton. All of them. On second look, that might be Bedard + Tejada. But still, even Colletti has to have limits, right? That's still delusional. That's way too much talent for those 2 players.
  15. I think I read somewhere that he thinks soccer is dumb. Prolly cause he sucks at it. Seriously, it's not like we're waiting on ARod. He's not so good as to freaking hang our entire offseason on waiting for him to first decide if he wants to play here, and then decide which team he wants. That turned out well, too. Unfortunately, that's where we are at. We're probably too far in to just give up on him now. It's still early December. Fred was mid-season. I can live with a guy waiting a while to decide where he wants to go. It seems to me he's jerking around with his decision. It's obnoxious. Especially for someone with no patience.

  17. This is idiotic. Make your damn mind up already. I already don't like this guy.
  18. Hendry has already destroyed his ability to wheel and deal, now. Hendry's plan is the same plan that saw us take 3 steps back in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Yeah, great, he won a horrible division with 85 wins. You keep overlooking that Hendry took over with payroll and prospects, and was the creator of the mess in the first place. He should not get credit for partially cleaning up a mess he created through his incompetence in the first place, especially when cleaning it up meant crippling us beyond 2010 with superstar contracts for merely very good players.
  19. That would be great, especially if his dad sticks with the dual defensive mids. I'm confident he'll develop a nice offensive game. In the U-20's he was arguably our best player along with Freddy and was always getting forward and into the action. I didn't think he was that great in the U-20s until the later games. Certainly Szetela outshone him in the first couple of games. Since then, though, he has looked very, very good in every game I've seen him in. Not much has stuck out for me with Bradley in some time, which makes me wonder what the difference in system is between the USMNT and his club side. He's clearly playing at a high level in the Erdevisie. Personally, the twin defensive mid lineup needs to stop.
  20. If he could develop into a 2 way midfielder it would solve a lot of problems for the Nats. Maybe like a Michael Ballack circa 2002 type ceiling?
  21. Holy god this is wrong. He's an extreme flyball hitter playing in the NL West, where there's only one park that's not a terrible hitters park. He plays 81 games in a canyon called Petco. His range is so much greater than other SS, he's going to get to more balls in play, so his errors are going to be a little higher than other SS. He'd be an amazing upgrade to our worst position on the field, offensively and defensively.
  22. I had expected to see Rozner's name on the byline myself.
  23. The Travelling Circus of Failure strikes again.
  24. What do you give up on? You made a terrible argument and got called out on it. You don't want to get busted out for logical fallacies? Bring something better than cherry picked stats to the table.
