  1. That was no fluke win; Utah beat the crap out of 'Bama.
  2. There's some interesting talent in Camp Cupcake this year
  3. I'd keep Rose, Noc, Hinrich and thats about it. Everyone else can go
  4. Stop playing Message Board Hero, IMB. Some of us have jobs and robble
  5. I bet I could pick two 3-game series from the 2007-2008 seasons to illustrate the point that the Cubs have the best offense in baseball history. Because that's what your point is. You're using 6 games spread over 700 days to draw conclusions about a team that won 85 and 97 games over a much more valid sample size.
  6. Probably the best day ever for an American outfield player. Clint is a frickin baller. Is there another one of the 'Nats you'd trust in a big game more? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/telegraph/multimedia/archive/01212/clint_dempsey_1212605c.jpg
  7. PLEASESTAYINFORMCLINT Deuce nets a brace as Fulham draw Chelsea 2-2
  8. Bullard sucks. He takes more bad shots than any Prem player I see. Fulham would be better off with Deuce in a central role anyway
  9. Once again...BA w/ RISP is a useless and non predictive stat, and to use it as a basis to critique a player is horrid logic. Secondly, the 2008 Cubs were a 97 win team in large part due to a newfound patience at the plate, which put our hitters in a position to feast on bad middle relief more often than not. So adding a guy who will simply attrit a pitchers' arm that much more while providing a high end slugging % would be a good move, not a bad one.
  10. He's already injured. Subotic choosing us would solve so many problems. It would create quality depth in the center, and potentially push Boca out wide or onto the bench (which, despite his set piece acumen, is really where he belongs at the upper international level. Does anyone really want to see a Gooch/Boca pairing in a World Cup match against anyone good?). Just do like Mexico and Nery, and toss a dump truck full of money at him. Ljungberg is not going to be a good fit for MLS. And Clint has done a great job at Fulham. Basically earned back his starting spot, and improved week after week. His defensive workrate has improved a ton, too. I only wish they'd occasionally play him in a more central attacking role.
  11. The short answer is 'oh god no' The long answer is that he's a 37 year old guy who cant really hit well and cant play the outfield. He would be an absolutely horrible player to sign. You're better off playing Pie everyday than signing Anderson.
  12. Deuce had another really strong game for Fulham today and notched his 2nd of the year. He's in good form at the moment, and a UEFA cup spot isn't out of the realm of possibility for them. Their defense this year has been solid. One thing to keep an eye on ahead of Feb. 11th...Clint's wife is pregnant and expecting sometime in Jan or Feb.
  13. Wolf, you know we're going to lose him eventually. Its just a matter of time. The opportunity to play in the Euros every 4 years plus WCQ will be too much to pass up. Of those three you mentioned, btw...its funny how Rossi is probably the one we had the least chance to hang on to thanks to his dad
  14. The reason batting avg w/ risp is useless is because the numbers vary year in and out too much to be of any predictive value.
  15. You should probably stop making the argument then that Dunn walking with a man on 3rd/less than 2 out is bad. Also, stop placing so much stock into BA/RiSP. It's a meaningless and non predictive stat. Also, do tell how a HR could drive in fewer runs than a single.
  16. You know when I posted that the US v Mexico game on 2/11 was going to be at Rio Tinto? Yeah, someone at USSF decided that the "tradition" of playing in Columbus outweighed the real likelihood of having to play a critical qualifier in what could be a blizzard.
  17. If we want a fast guy who has a ton of holes in his offensive game but plays plus defense, why wouldn't we just keep Pie for the league minimum? Barring, of course, his inclusion in some sort of actually good trade. And IMB is right. Gathright sucks. He's fricking terrible.
  18. Serie A is the strangest place.
  19. wow what? they can't believe that we've teamed up together like a captain planet By YOUR powers combined...
  20. My mind is blown.
  21. The US v Mexico game is likely going to be in Seattle or Salt Lake
  22. Saint Kyle. When are people going to make the realization that Kyle's hot start : Rex's 2006 hot start
  23. I'm not going to lie...it's a little fun to watch Saint Kyle struggle with the same pile of crap that Rex got nearly lynched for not succeeding with.
  24. What exactly is the point of kicking a field goal there?
  25. If taking on Peavy's contract is being held up by the new owners needing to approve it, then why wasn't Dempster's deal also held up? Because none of this is true. I was at Wrigley today along with the other reporters. There is no deal in place with San Diego. Hendry asked us what the deal was. And the Cubs are not cutting payroll. I expect it to be between $140 million and $145 million. Then why the hell didn't they offer Kerry Wood arbitration?
