  1. I have an odd feeling he ends up in Tottenham.
  2. It seems like the Bears matchup so well against the Titans, if that is possible. They are very strong against the run vs. a strong running-very weak passing team. Then again, this Lions game has letdown, stupid playoff killing loss written all over it Yeah, but the Titans have already faced the number 1 and number 2 run D's in football (Baltimore and Minnesota) and won both. They can win in a variety of ways. rex should go on a drunken depressed rampage and then we'd win every game. i miss rex
  3. Are they going to let him do blow on the bench? Seriously, this would be like hiring Michael Jordan to be your GM, only if you were the Tampa Rays. This is going to be epic.
  4. I'll be shocked if Hull do anything against Chelsea on Wednesday. They've certainly had an unexpected start to the season but they haven't exactly played anyone that impressive except for Arsenal. Just looking at the table, the 2nd highest team they've played is West Ham who are currently 10th. Combine that with Chelsea coming off the Liverpool loss and I think Hull will be lucky if it's only 0-3 on Wednesday. That said, go Hull City! Hull has no chance. I concur with you score. 0-3 is best case scenario. I'll go ahead and be the outlier here and say that Hull pulls off a 1-1 draw at home, and then gets pummeled by United this weekend.
  5. If Towers takes that, Hendry has some nasty pictures of him. That platter wouldn't land Peavy alone, let alone Greene. I'm thinking Pie/Theriot/Marshall/Veal/Adkins might get them to discuss that deal. I'm thinking he's operating under the assumption that Greene has negative trade value. Not outrageous depending on just how much money Moores needs to recoup. Honestly, I think Pie/Castillo/Marshall would be a decent start. This is exactly what I'm thinking. Whatever he's owed in 2009, it's probably a hell of a lot more than San Diego wants to pay for him. He's not going to get cheaper. They aren't going to contend, so they'd be probably wanting to tack him on to any Peavy deal, much like Willis was dealt with Cabrera.
  6. I think you could pull it off if you agreed to take Greene along with Peavy. So something like Pie/Cedeno/Marshall/Adkins.
  7. I so want Hull to beat Chelsea this week...I love me some Hull
  8. Roy Hodgson might be one of the worst football coaches I've ever seen. Clint is in their best IX. I have no, no idea why he isn't a first choice player there. Every match he's been in this season, the opposition has had to account for him and he's created chances.
  9. A name to watch: Diego De La Torre He's going to be the next Mexican-American player cap-tied.
  10. Its gonna be us. There's no way he chooses to be a borderline 23 man roster candidate for a team that may or may not qualify, over being a near lock for a starting IX spot.
  11. Chris Rolfe has a 1st half hat trick as the Fire are up 3-1 at the half over Flugtag FC FWIW, the three teams I've really, really enjoyed seeing play in MLS have been Chivas, RSL and the Fire. The Fire's midfield is really, really good. RE Beckham... I think MLS would probably be best served selling him to Milan. Yeah, they'd lose some jersey sales and ticket sales, but realistically, he's a role player sucking up salary for a team and a market that badly needs an overhaul. Becks was a free transfer to MLS, so they could recoup some $$ by selling him to AC and then, if Landon leaves to go get abused in Germany some more, they could makeover that team. I think the league is actually (I can't believe I'm saying this) better off without players like Beckham. The league is growing. The SSS's are working, and I think that if they stay patient and make smart decisions, you'll have a perfectly healthy league averaging 14-20k per night that can serve as as springboard league.
  12. No, I'm actually with you. I would completely let my emotions override any logical or reasonable apprehension about a 3 year deal. I'd rather him be here for the rest of his career, and I'd honestly be suprised if he went anywhere else. And as someone said earlier in the thread, if this team is going to be handcuffed by a contract, it won't be Wood's, it will be Soriano's.
  13. Was this confirmed? I thought it was just speculation cause he was training with them so he can stay fit for England callups.
  14. Come 2010 Hejduk is going to be on a beach watching the tourney, and Cherundolo might not even be our 1st choice RB. We need to start really, really exploring these options in the next 12 months. Our defensive depth is pretty untested. Beyond the starters, you have: Califf=Bad Wynne=Untested Simek=Untested Spector=Good, but raw and injury prone Demerit=I think he's good, but untested Bornstein=Hejduk 2.0 Orozco=Untested Gibbs=DOA I still, still think DMB converting to left back and Edu converting to a center back makes the most sense given our midfield logjam by 2010. We have the Gold Cup, the Confederations Cup, Camp Cupcake and the lame friendlies in the winter/early spring and, of course, the Hex to work with. I don't want to be blooding major contributors in 2010 in some sendoff series of crap games or some half assed European Tour of Poland and Austria that don't simulate the enviroment they'll face.
  15. I think this was it. Also, because Adu was better in the first half and Torres was much better in the 2nd half. Freddy needed to be pushed up more, and then you can play JFT as that attacking mid with MB behind him.
  16. Hmmm..for me, the best two players on the field were Adu and Torres...and it was more based on their movement off the ball. They were always checking back, looking to play combinations, and as the game progressed Torres seemed to gain confidence. The willingness to play little combinations freed up several chances for Frankie Hejduk to shank or squander on the flank. Man, that guy would be Phillip Lahm if he could cross a ball to save his life. So I was a BIG fan of that. I liked the willingness to check back. Our midfield held possession well, I though, except for when Edu or Beasley touched the ball. DMB's touch kind of sucks and Edu had a bad night. Sacha turned the ball over a LOT and didn't have a very good game. Jozy...was ok. He blew that sitter, which I don't like, and committed the foul that led to the PK...which wasn't good either. I don't like him giving RoboBob any excuses not to play him. Guzan did not impress. Too many rebounds given. Orozco played ok, I thought. Davies seems like the exact kind of player Eddie Johnson should be/should have been. He has pace AND touch. He's the perfect late game sub when a backline might have tired legs. Obviously it's just one cap and goal, but I'm intrigued.
  17. Not even those two can ruin the names on that roster for me.
  18. Why the F do we care about a guy who's probably our 5th choice keeper?
  19. Apparently Cooper was called up and declined, saying his games with FCD are more important with the MLS playoffs on the line, as opposed to 20 minutes of garbage time in a de facto friendly. Plus he's hurt and sick or something.
  20. USMNT Checklist: Dempsey maintining threat form and scowling? Check. DaMarcus Scoring and blowing some chances? Check. Donovan creating (and deferring too much)? Check. Sascha continuing to progress? Check. Torres getting cap-tied? Check. Jozy goal? Check. Adu assist? Check. Stupid Bradley yellow card? Check. Officially through to the hex and we should see the lineup we all want in Port of Spain on Wednesday.
  21. I got my wish...and Torres let loose a great rip from distance that went high, and Jozy had a great run for a scoring chance. I like this.
  22. USA up 2-1 at the half, DMB with both goals. Cuba is now playing with 10 men. Most important thing remaining to do=cap tie Torres. I'd love to see Adu/Altidore/Torres tonight.
  23. It would probably be Theriot and Marmol to start, and then adding a Pie or Wuertz to get them interested.
  24. I turned it off at 2-0 on a goal from Ferdinand and an own goal, but the Kazakhs really accounted for themselves well, and the first goal was actually against the run of play. Emile Heske must be the English version of Brian Ching, cause I can't figure out why he's starting for England. He's terrible.
  25. KAZAKHSTAN IS GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. 0-0 at the half at Wembley.
