  1. This, or any team in Bloomington-Normal can ONLY be an independent team (Frontier/Northern League). The Chiefs have territorial rights for ANY Affiliated team be it MWL, AA or AAA. The closest Cities that could have an affiliated team in IL are Springfield (which has tried a few times), Champaign-Urbana and Quincy...
  2. He'll definitely get a starting rotation spot next season. I'm hoping Daytona. Also, I'm disappointed Rafael Dolis never returned. He looked so promising at the beginning of the season. I bet Ceda is still in the pen...and he goes to AA tomorrow for the playoffs.
  3. I'm surprised about Colvin not being there (my guesses had been: Hart, Johnson, Roquet, Colvin, Reynolds or Fuld and someone from A-ball like Barney or Matulia). By the way, Nathan said that Oneri told him Ryan Harvey was going. I mis-posted. Harvey is Hawaii. Good for him, I thought that'd be a good place for him (and I thought Lansford would go there...whoops, the Cubs obviously think he's further advanced than I did). He is further advanced. He would have been our MVP and top prospect without missing the last 6 weeks...

  5. EDIT - Harvey is going with Samson per Oneri. ...Adduci, Canzler and Carter are going to Dominican for an OF instructs deal. Lansford going to Arizona Fall League with Fuld and Simokaitis....and I'M sure others but those are the only 3 Oneri announced on the air with me last night beacuse they have Chiefs ties...
  6. After two innings on air yesterday with Oneri, Gary Hughes will join me tonight in the 2nd...
  7. Going back to his May 10 start...add another 1.1 IP and 6 PA to his totas for his Chiefs franchise record 20.1 IP w/o a hit....on the season Opponents hitting .103
  8. we see each rover about once a month. when we have a long homestand we usually have 2 or 3 here at a time. We see Oneri the most since he also comes when we are at Kane County in his backyard..
  9. are they doing a system evaluation or something? So, if I read that right, Tennessee is in with a win. I think it is mostly a coincidence. Bialas was with us in Wisconsin. With the Cubs on the road its an easy drive down for Hughes and Fleita to see all the new guys (Barney, JOhnson, Russell, Hempy, Wright, Smith, Siegfried)
  10. we have a staff injection in here Peoria: 1. Oneri Fleita 2. Gary Hughes 3. Dave Bialas 4. Dave Keller 5. Bob Dernier Oneri will join me for the 2nd and 3rd inning on Sunday and Bialas will be on the pregame show. I will also try to get Hughes on for Monday night but he was not around for pregame today...
  11. Actually he was reinjured in a bullpen session while warming up to come into Wednesday's game. I look forward to seeing Russell tonight. We need someone to step up in the rotation with Pina and Renshaw now both done for the year (Renshaw got a full clean bill of health but they dont want to risk anything by having him throw again)
  12. And he will start Thursday...bye bye Al Alburquerque! I also irrationally hate certain 21-year old Dominican kids on the basis of 11 appearances. Theres never any hatred. But he gave us no chance to win and get in the playoffs and thats what we are playing for. He was way overmatched at this level and always "hurt" The only thing they are playing for is possibly developing into future major league baseball players. Getting Peoria to the playoffs is pretty meaningless. Sure, but for me and the Chiefs staff, its the exact opposite. Their development is good for us if they turn into a Pujols, Maddux, Grace, Patterson etc and we can market off that in the future. We'd rather have them go 140-0 and put butts in the seats here in 2007... plus, Alburquerque is never gonna develop past this level...id be kinda surprised to even see him back here anytime soon.

  15. Its cause we are trying to male the playoffs and he and Ruhlman give us that chance at the end of games...
  16. He is a STUD. Even though he has been banged up all year. He flat out killed us in May and it isnt a coincidence that since he came off the DL the 2nd time (hamstring) that Cedar Rapids has won 6 straight to catch us in the Wild Card. I think he is in the top 5 hitters I have seen this season with Gorkys Hernandez (DET), Gerardo Parra (ARI), Chris Valaika (CIN), and Travis Snider (TOR). Drew Stubbs (CIN), James Skelon (DET), Danny Perales (ARI), John Whittleman (TEX) and Steve Hill (STL) are probably in my next five...
  17. well they can figure that out in Mesa...no one else thought he was even hurt he was scheduled to start today until he said no about 10 pm last night.
  18. Al told the staff last night he was hurt. Both have regular deliveries. I think we will throw four guys 2-3 innings each today and then see where we stand.
  19. We will start Siegfried today...Alburquerque is done.
  20. ha, you sure he let it drop on purpose? he was never thinking that far ahead with the Chiefs...
  21. Good for him!!
  22. Jose threw in the bullpen over the weekend, threw a flat ground on Tuesday and I believe he will throw a full side on Thurs or Fri in Cedar Rapids . If that goes pain-free then he would be ready to jump back into the rotation as soon as there is an opening (which will hopefully be created by sending Al back to Boise.)
  23. I havent seen him in game action since 2005 when he played the 2nd half here in peoria but he was/is one heck of a shortstop. Has great range and a very strong arm. He and Patterson (who's DEF at 2b is vastly underrated) turned the quickest and best double plays I have seen in the MWL in 5 years. He also had great instincts and you could tell he was a "baseball" guy even if his stats didnt always show it. He was aggressive on the bases, knew when to go 1st to 3rd, worked well with the coaching staff. Most here knew that if he ever started hitting over .250 he would make it which was the same feeling people had aboue Molina here in 2002 as a catcher.
  24. Yes, I agree. except there arent any open spots here... We have Adduci hitting .286 as a 22 yr old, younger than Wright and Wyatt. Johnson and Hardman take the other two spots on a regular basis and both are 2007 draftees just like the Boise guys... Brian Leclerc is our odd man out as a 31st rounder this season... I'd take Johnson in CF and Adduci in a corner spot with the other maybe up for grabs...
  25. Id say Jeremy is 85-86... oh and Im at the game today
