  1. 16 in my book. Umps screwed him at home in April too on one that landed across the street fair. Archer is done. 88 pitches in 5 innings.
  2. and 10 minutes before the game starts, Pevey switches Vitters and Brenly.
  3. Vitters needs as many at bats as possible so of course the Cubs will have him batting 7th. Pretty sure the Cubs don't have anything to do with it, just our manager trying to find a way to get him going would be my guess. The Ridling one confuses me more since he is hitting .295 this month and leads the team in RBI.
  4. Major lineup shakeups today for the Chiefs. Brenly hits 3rd (1st time in career) Vitters hits 7th (!) Ridling hits 8th (!!)
  5. Yeah he "tried out" here a couple weeks back throwing a simulated game against Perez, Rundle, Lake and Mercedes. Low 90s with good sink and slider
  6. With the all-star break coming up this week, I have no clue who will start the first game back. Sorry. Bristow - Thurs Archer - Fri Carpenter - Sat Shafer - Sun
  7. The "Cubs guy" was scouting director Tim Wilken. Has been here since Monday.
  8. have there been any reports about huseby's stuff as a reliever? He's easily our best reliever. Probably our 2nd or 3rd best pitcher. Great slider, good fastball and outstanding control.
  9. Thanks. Are there any corresponding moves? Mike Perconte on the DL. Strained left calf. Lot of that going around these days, I think it is contagious. Cabrera and Carpenter will handle Monday's DH after Hatley throws Sunday vs. QC.
  10. Breaking News (ha, always wanted to type that): Justin Bristow coming off the DL to start for us tonight. Archer will start tomorrow.
  11. Hopefully, he either has to adjust b/c pitchers have started to figure and has to be mentally tough enough to work through it or is just slumping and one of the rare times in his baseball life has to work through the slump. Just swinging at a lot of first pitches. He'll be fine. Wasn't going anywhere anyway so its just part of his first full season in baseball. Ups and downs like everyone has.
  12. Nope they are already in AZ, at least Oneri. First time We've been here as a Cubs team without any staff visitors. Tonight some of the front office (marketing people, corporate sales, box office, interns, etc) is coming down but as fans. I agree on Burke and Lake, and don't sleep on Brenly and Flaherty who are both starting to click.
  13. Starters: Vitters, Harrison (DH) and Burke Others: Ridling, Carpenter, Buchter Note: Chiefs are on the East squad this season as the Changeover team. No team on the East has more starters or players on the All-Star team than the Chiefs!
  14. Sorry guys but Huseby and Archer were NOT on the MWL All-Star ballot. Managers nominate their own players for the ballot. The votes were turned in Monday. I think we will have 5 or 6 total. And we are the odd team out this year playing on the East squad.
  15. unlike carpenter he wasn't pitching well. Wasn't too bad. Considering that it was a down pour and the umps changed the ball out after every pitch cause they were too wet to throw. Yet we kept playing.
  16. Strange play. Think he got taken out on the slide at 2B? That'd be my guess - the Peoria Journal Star has a story on today's game, but it doesn't even mention the injury - maybe it's just day-to-day. The Journal Star doesn't send reporters to road games. They put together an article by A. Listening to my broadcast and try to take notes for a quick recap. B. Doing it from the box score/recap or C. Taking the recap that I send out to media and create their quick blurb. It doesnt make financial sense for them to travel with us and they never have except for the playoffs. But they still do a great job getting an article in every day by listening to the game and using the recap I provide on the website. But sometimes they do miss things.
  17. Strange play. Think he got taken out on the slide at 2B? He was taken out on the slide. His hip jammed. Walked on his own out to the bus. They will look at him tomorrow when the swelling goes down but I wouldn't be too surprised if he plays Saturday. Tough kid and it wasn't as bad as it looked fortunately.
  18. Tennessee has 3 outfielders, Daytona has 4. Any thoughts on how long Peoria is likely to keep 5? As for Peoria, Kyler Burkes the only one whose been any better than brutal with the bat, so send him to Daytona. Josh Harrison is playing more OF than IF here and his numbers are the best of those who do play in the OF average wise. And he is older than the others as the only college player.
  19. To answer a bunch of comments from tonight..Archer probably isn't going anywhere until he extends his pitch count past 75...and his control improves. But he does have great stuff. Vitters stands close to the plate. That is true. Lake had 14 errors, 13 at SS, 1 at second. He has the worst fielding percentage for all SS in the MWL. And our defense is not bad. We are 6th in the MWL in fielding percentage. 48 errors. Clinton who we are playing has 81. now THAT is bad... and sorry the feed went out tonight for about a half inning. There was a power surge at the station and we got it back on as soon as we could. Thanks for listening!!
  20. He will come back a day early so as to not mess with everyone else's five days. Carpenter on Saturday at Great Lakes. Beliveau Sunday.
  21. He K'd all three he faced after we started 54 minutes late...the skies opened up mid 1 and after a 49 minute delay Carpenter was done with Beliveau in.
  22. Actually Beliveau would have gone today...he will now back up Carpenter on Tuesday. But JB is in our rotation now...Cabrera back to relieving Archer in a tandem setup due to limited pitch counts on both. Carp Tues, Arch/Cabby on Wed, Hatley Thurs, Bristow Friday and Beliveau Saturday...
  23. Cause he is 19. I wouldn't be looking for a move until at least July. Selfishly of course I hope he is with us all season but I think it will be at least July 1 unless there is an injury at 3rd above us. Reynolds/Smith/Rosa are all playing 3rd above Vitters right now. Plus IMO, Harrison would be the first to move given that he is older and can play many positions and is hitting for a higher avg...
  24. Yes. Beliveau will follow Bristow on Tuesday. And Perez was taking grounders because all five of his errors have been because he can't pick up a ball. All week at home he took grounders at second because it is easier than having a fungo hitter stand in the outfield and be in harms way during BP with baseballs flying all over...
