Im not worried about the hitting. They are swinging it well and just not finding holes. Last season's average by month in Peoria: April: .226 May: .251 June: .274 So far in April, with 7 games to play, we are at .220 which is in the same category as last year. The hitting will come. We have good hitters with good approaches at the plate. Last year all the numbers were down in April and everyone was down on us and guys ended up with pretty good seasons over .270, especially Adduci, Canzler, Castillo, Lalli, Lansford and Mota who all started slow. This team will definitely have more power numbers than last years which finished with just 61 homers. The hitting doesn't have me worried at all. Now the defense? Well thats a different story altogether. You cannot commit 2 errors per game and expect to win consistenly at any level after high school. That has to change and the guys are putting in extra work daily, especially those learning relatively new positions like Rosa at first, Johnston in the OF and even Samson and Gonzalez who have switched in the middle infield. The pitching is so good so far that if the defense shapes up we will stay afloat until the hitting catches up. Our bullpen is outstanding right now and very tough to score on. But 38 errors and 31 unearned runs in 19 games will hurt any team.
