  1. Look down a few threads. viewtopic.php?t=32260
  2. My initial thought here is platoon with Womack? Womack + Walker vs righties, Walker + Nevin vs lefties.
  3. 2003-05: 286/377/547/924 2006: 267/340/533/873
  4. Can he play them, or can he play them well? Come to think of it, I really don't even think he can play 1B very well. But he has played 3B, OF, and C.
  5. I'm OK with it being Hairston because he really didn't have a chance here. The "good riddance" vibe is a bit peculiar.
  6. Astros add Clemens, we counter with a washed-up Nevin. Brilliant!
  7. I hear Pirates fans everywhere respectfully disagreeing with you.
  8. That's been reported everywhere for the past couple of weeks.
  9. Check again Um, that's not even close to the same thing. HUGE advantage, Astros.
  10. No, because it's obvious to them. (they're at 372 as a team by the way)
  11. Well, speaking of Wade Miller. Does anyone know where he is? I'm guessing the blurb on the radio was that he's eligible to be activated (tomorrow?).
  12. I'm all for it and have never defended Hendry in overpaying for bad bench players. I just think $12 million plus for a little over half a season for a 43 year old pitcher is not a good baseball decision, for the Cubs or any team. He's not superman and no one defies the effects of age forever. He didn't pitch a whole heck of a lot, but he had a 2.08 ERA and 0.81 WHIP at the WBC. Not too bad for an old geezer.
  13. That's what I thought? Maybe I caught the tail end of a conversation then. I thought it was odd. Your sig is giving me a headache. Your sig is making me smile. Not too long ago, it was at 299. You need to update it, cuz we're at 307 now. Its got a date qualifier that allows me some time to update it. CYA
  14. I hope he wins the triple crown.
  15. I don't know about Billy. He's got very limited coaching history and has never really shown much desire to keep doing it. The great ones almost always fail when trying to teach their own craft. I always wondered if he moved to the front office because of the travel or if it was just because he had very little talent to work with. Aside from Grace, there wasn't much else. Sammy had yet to do anything.
  16. Where's the selection for "More than 21"?
  17. Ha! That's a trick question. It's not possible to give less than what those guys have given the team.

  19. I thought that as well, Bob didn't seem to agree. Its all speculation really because Williams is in Arizonia. Plus, he like Pole for pitching coach as well, he was maddux coach in atlanta wasn't he? Regardless, if Billy wanted the job, they'd have to be stupid to not give it to him. If Maddux decides to retire, I want him in the dugout next season too. I would love to see Maddux as PC and Billy as HC. I really like this idea...getting former Cubs (not named Sarge) for the bench makes me smile....BTW...I like Sarge, just not what he's done as a coach. I would rather get good coaches than worry about whether they have ties to the Cubs. Ditto. With Maddux and Williams, it's more coincidental than anything. I think they would be terrific for those positions, regardless of the team they played for.
  20. I will give that some serious thought and get back to you. The overall contributions from those 4 need to be weighed in a manner where the comparison is fair, not to mention the... oh, who am I kidding?
  21. Crazy thought: Did picking Womack off the trash heap make Pierre expendable in a deal? I would like to believe his inept play made him expendable. That and he could conceivably end up with a contract near 10M per this offseason.
  22. I always forget he exists until someone starts a thread.
  23. I just don't know who to pick -- so many are deserving...

  25. You started 2 threads on the same guy and spelled his name wrong in both.
