  1. And promptly wrote a crappy horror novel about his draft day experience and a dog that had human thumbs.
  2. Why? Well if the difference between the hitters' OPS is .040, and OPS+ shows that the lower hitter is below average, whereas the higher hitter is "decently above" average, it would appear that something is either incorrect, or at least skewed. I actually like OPS+, but this seems a little off to me. The difference between Walker and Grudz last season was .088 (300 OBP vs 388, for example) and it's significant enough. Walker's OPS+ was 115, Grudz was at 92. Looks right in line to me. Side note: OPS+ adjusts for both the league and the park the player plays in.
  3. Wow. Just wow.
  4. And having Womack in the second spot is lighting a fire under Pierre. Guy is getting hits, taking walks, and stealing bases with Womack up there. Doesn't seem to have any pressure anymore, unlike the past couple months. Why was he tanking when Walker was hitting 400+ and taking walks behind him? I can't say for sure, but it seems like there is some kind of understanding with speedy guys. Seems like they are more comfortable with each other when they know the other won't be caught off in a double play most of the time, or make a stupid mistake at the plate. Tony Womack compliments Pierre well, and we've needed that. If Tony's hitting, that's a bonus. If not, he takes walks. Best of both worlds. Do you actually believe any of that?
  5. I guess that wasn't covered in my time in "the show", but I cannot for the life of me figure out why this is upsetting some people.
  6. If breast cancer can get a double off Fat Glen, Bronson can take him deep at least 4 or 5 more times.
  7. Would you be offended if someone responded with "learn to type"?

  9. Nate just told me he's never heard of you. Has anyone else formed a mental picture that Is_Pedro_There looks like Earl? yes I actually look just like Joy. With Randy's body and hairline.
  10. I hope Wilken knows something. :?
  11. His urine makes everyone tougher. Moises could only make himself tougher.
  12. It's a little-known fact that Todd Walker actually shaves every 3 innings. How often would he have to shave if he played for the Yankees? Every 3 pitches.
  13. Thanks for the giggles...you failed to mention defense here which is where Grudzielanek has it ALL over Todd Walker. OPS alone is not the way to judge a player. You must look at the COMPLETE player...but I know how you stat geeks are. Oh and it helps that Grudz knows how to keep his yapper shut and play the game hard. Character guy... What a huge loss for the Cubs when they lost Grudz. Giggles all around. What you fail to mention is proof that Grudz has it all over Walker, whatever that means. Their fielding statistics are much closer than you might think.
  14. That's getting old. Who is getting a free pass? I believe Walker and Barrett are about the only ones I have not said anything negative about. If you want me to start ripping on them, so be it. Until then, stop trying to put words in others' mouths. Please start ripping Marmol. Marmol. What kind of stupid name is that? He should be demoted or deported or hanged or something.
  15. Don't forget Jhonny Peralta.

  17. Can we elect him as king or something?
  18. I'm an equal opportunity basher, vet or youngster. I've been on record many times in the past speaking against Hill, and I still think the Jones contract is a bad one. A good month of baseball will not erase the mediocre career he has had up until this point. His contract is not out of line for his current production, but it is when he regresses to his career norms. That said, I hope they both prove me wrong and excel. What gets "[expletive]" around here is that some consistently fail to understand that we want all Cubs players to succeed and exceed our expectations. We get down on everyone when they suck and do something stupid, we give props where they are due, but most of us also remain realistic. If Neifi goes on a stretch where he hits 600 for a week, we should refrain from proclaiming him the next coming of Albert for we know it is short lived and his eternal suckitude will present itself sooner rather than later.
  19. His trade value is at an all-time high. We will hold onto him until that changes.
  20. It should have been 317, 377 was his SLG. But you are correct that Dayn Perry is an idiot. If he thinks Ronny's line is that bad, he should check out the line of the guy he's listing as his likely replacement.
  21. Have you noticed his HR trot how his body is cocked in a weird position? It makes him cool, and he is a fabulous player because of it.
