  1. It's as simple as this: the Cubs have never made the playoffs with a player named "Glendon Rusch" on their roster. Never.

  3. Only Cubs players throw towels. They don't throw them, they just pretend to.
  4. I think most of us feel the same -- he wasn't "the answer", but there's no way it could be worse than what we had.
  5. What is the guy who inspired your screen name? I'll take Therapists for $400, Alex.
  6. Can you say 50% of the league? Look, until Canseco is proven to be full of it, I'm sticking with what he said. He was ostracized when his book was coming out, but it's the closest to the truth that we have right now. We've had more than a year to prove him wrong, and I have yet to see anyone do it.
  7. The second step in any list is so important, it needs to be thought of twice.
  8. Seriously, has Hendry made any decent moves being in the seller position in previous years? I can't recall that there have been any good ones. I seem to recall him moving Flash to Houston a few years ago for a couple of Houston A ball pitchers, but I don't believe any of them panned out for us. I suppose there may have been other moves too, but I'm not that confident he'll be able to get the right prospect back in deal right now. The only selling I can remember him doing has all come after the trading deadline (waiver deals) when all we got were unmentionables in return. And yes, unmentionables could mean underwear.
  9. That is just unacceptable. Unless that was our team BA or OBP.
  10. Come join us. It's hard to believe anyone on this Cubs team is using any performance enhancing drugs or chemicals. It's better than giving up on the game completely.
  11. Sell 'em all, start from scratch. And by all, I mean the team, MacPhail, Hendry, etc.
  12. How many times must this be proven false until people stop saying it? Well, it's technically false. But it's also been written by nearly all the writers, including Bruce, that there's a handshake agreement that Maddux won't be dealt w/o his approval. So it's effectively a NTC, though not technically one. Sure, JH could go back on his word. Although I think he's done a pretty bad job as GM (at least recently), I don't think he'd throw away his reputation with all players by dealing Maddux against his wishes. I can't find a link right now but just a week or two ago, when asked about the possibility of being traded, Maddux responded that he had no idea because he did not have a NTC so it was out of his hands.
  13. Cabrera's significantly bigger this year, too. Hmmmmmmmmm... To me, it looks like he just got fat.
  14. It's a catch-22. We are unfortunately not going to have our players clean until someone like Pujols or Bonds or DLee are shown to not be clean. Jason Grimsley on HGH does nothing to taint the image of the game or cause long-term changes for the good of the game. Pujols on anything will.
  15. Juan Pierre, Albert Pujols, Rafael Palmeiro
  16. It would be funny if it happened to a team other than this one.
  17. In all fairness, he was a college pitcher from Texas. Ours was a HS pitcher from Utah. I didn't even know people played baseball there.
  18. I wonder why we got Phil Nevin. Why exactly doesnt he start? Because Womack had a couple of really good games 2 weeks ago.
  19. Since when have the cubs been competing?
  20. #13 Picks: 80 - Lebo Powell 81 - Mike Sodders 82 - John Russed 83 - Joel Davis 84 - Bob Caffrey 85 - Jeff Bumgarner 86 - Ryan Bowen 87 - Bill Spiers 88 - Austin Manahan 89 - Brent Mayne 90 - Donovan Osborne 91 - Manny Ramirez 92 - Chad McConnell 93 - Matt Drews (between Billy Wagner and Derrek Lee) 94 - Paul Konerko 95 - Mark Redman 96 - Rob Stratton 97 - John Curtice 98 - J.M. Gold 99 - Mike Paradis 00 - Shaun Boyd 01 - Casey Kotchman 02 - Khalil Greene 03 - Aaron Hill 04 - Bill Bray 05 - Brandon Snyder
  21. You'd think someone who works that hard would be better than what he actually is.
