  1. Anyone know what the Royals are planning with him? I just looked at his AA numbers, and I'm quite impressed with the offense. I know very little about the defense though. Mark Teahen has been pretty bad for them, I'm wondering if his shot could be coming. 312/408/543/951, 13/14 SB, 9 HR. K numbers are a titch high, but the walk total is pretty good.
  2. Ha! I've already started. I had to make the big jump from CF to 2B just to cut down on the throws. I'd be screwed if I were a pitcher.
  3. Bias is awesome. [Links and stuff] I wouldn't say he's 'far and away' the best WR, but depending on who comes out early and who doesn't, he could be the top WR taken. I haven't seen him go any lower than 22 in any mock draft so far. Let's not kid ourselves about what kind of football prospect he is. Correct. Far and away is extreme, but he is the top WR in the draft right now. There will likely be some that come out early. He should go 1st round, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's not the 1st WR taken. A lot can happen in 10 months.
  4. That one might be my favorite Cubs jingle. I go through stretches where it gets stuck in my head for days. I can't figure out if it's annoying or not. It's been happening since 1984.
  5. Is that the strategy for Marmol, is it just coincidence, or does he project to be a reliever?
  6. I doubt it. I had my surgery 2 weeks after his, and I still can't throw a ball more than 60-70 feet. I didn't go through the extensive rehab that he did, but I feel the fatigue after about 10 throws.
  7. Would you have also told me that DLee had been injured since game 12 and Tony Womack was on the roster and getting a number of starts? And that Juan Pierre would have an OBP of 287 and that Rusch, Hill, and Guzman would all get a bunch of starts in addition to Marshall being entrenched in the rotation?
  8. Go, Cubs, go Go, Cubs, go Hey, Chicago, what do you say The Cubs are gonna win today.
  9. Thanks for the giggles...you failed to mention defense here which is where Grudzielanek has it ALL over Todd Walker. OPS alone is not the way to judge a player. You must look at the COMPLETE player...but I know how you stat geeks are. Oh and it helps that Grudz knows how to keep his yapper shut and play the game hard. Character guy... What a huge loss for the Cubs when they lost Grudz. grudz is good defensively? good one. and since when is todd walker not a character guy? you have been listening to too much sports radio I don't listen to sports talk radio. It is rubbish. You stat geeks here amaze me. Funny how any game I watch that the announcers for the other team seem to really like Grudzielanek as an all around player. Trust their judgement over you stat geeks. Are you seriously saying that Grudz is a better "all around" player then Walker? And are you also saying that evidence to the contrary doesn't matter? Simply amazing. It's better to rely on guys like Ron Santo to tell us the true value of a player?
  10. I wanted to give him an 11, but it wasn't an option.
  11. You can't be obnoxius. I know a girl who is a huge Cubs fan and she has lived in Cardinals territory her entire life and she no problems. She wears Cubs gear a lot, but they don't give her hell. Is she hot? Yes. That's why they leave her alone. If I saw a hottie wearing a Cardinals shirt with a White Sox cap, well, I probably wouldn't notice that she was wearing a Cardinals shirt with a White Sox cap.
  12. Thanks for the reminder. I have Oswalt in my money league.
  13. Quick recap from Day 1: The Cubs drafted nobody good except for the guy that probably won't sign with us.
  14. Maybe he used them backwards.
  15. You must have had different baseball coaches than me. Either that or different football and basketball coaches. We worked awfully hard in baseball, but it was nothing compared to the running and conditioning with the other sports. I watched a few wrestling practices in HS and had a couple of friends on the wrestling team at Iowa (under Dan Gable) and those were by far the most intense. Never seen water polo, but I'm guessing you gotta be in decent shape to tread water that long.
  16. He has been playing more than normal already. I have no problems with him getting a day off. Yes, even if that means Hank plays.
  17. I don't see the problem with this quote. Training for football, basketball, wrestling, and water polo is much more intense than training for baseball. Why would you not prefer someone who does more than just play baseball?
  18. Welcome, and go Hawks!
  19. Everybody else has gotten a chance to start, why not him? Christ, I might be able to put up Fat Glen's numbers.
  20. So, um... how do you lose to a guy named Wandy?
  21. I missed a few rounds on my commute home. Have we drafted anyone who's good yet?
  22. This doesn't make sense to me. The Cubs had a second base prospect that flamed out before, so you assume all future ones will be the same unless proven at the Major League level? It's akin to Felix Pie will never make it because Corey didn't.
